DeMint defends Graham on climate
The Hill ^ | 3/5/10 | Ben Geman

Posted on 03/05/2010 12:49:17 PM PST by pissant

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) believes his colleague Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is getting a “bad rap” from state Republicans who have attacked Graham over his work on climate change legislation and other splits with conservatives.

Graham in recent months has been censured by two county Republican parties in South Carolina, where some activists are upset with his efforts to craft a climate and energy bill with Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).

The county activists also attacked Graham for his views on immigration and supporting the 2008 Wall Street bailout, among other stances.

DeMint is among the Senate’s most conservative members and splits with Graham on the bailout, climate change and other issues. But he strongly defended Graham in an interview with The Hill on Thursday.

“I think he got a bad rap,” DeMint said when asked about the attacks on Graham back home. “There are a lot of people up here who are the problem, but it ain’t Lindsey Graham.”

DeMint said Graham is a “great partner” in the Senate and one of the few people with “enough courage to stand up for things” such as tax and social security reform.

I’m also a big DeMint fan, though this pissed me off.

Not sure. Fredheads seemed to give Fred a pass for being McCain’s flippin campaign manager.

If it's true, me too.

I *Groaned * to you in an earlier post. I'm going to cut him some slack until I see some more from him on this subject. Tom Coburn needs to take him to the woodshed.

The truth is that none of these DC people have good hearing.

They are all tone death to the people.

...and easily massaged by the liberal media / big government perspective.

DeMint has me scratching my head. He was one of the only Republicans I thought was worth a shit. If he can bring himself to endorse Lindseed Graham, he is not far from endorsing Romney or McCain. Keep it up DeMint and you will find yourself out the door too.

Amen to that! He's certainly fallen quite a bit in the eyes of most conservatives, who were looking for any spark of life in Congress.

Kiss him and any others who "defend" Grahamnesty, good bye and hang onto Michelle Bachmann, who's no fool on any of the liberal tripe designed to take down America.

I don't recall Fred doing that.

Look, I like DeMint, Fred and Sarah. It just goes to show that none of them are perfect.

That's all.

That’s the guy, Markey,

This joker needs to be wiped out in November.

He’s at the TOP of my personal hit list.

How did Scott Brown do in his district?

Unfortunately, Tom Coburn came out today singing the praises of Rino-ette Carly Fiorina over conservative Chuck DeVore in CA’s primary. UHHHHHHHHGGGGGGG

I agree. I’m not throwing DeMint under the bus. But we got to keep our eyes open when they screw the pooch too.

I agree. DeMint is hands down the best we have in D.C.

Chill pills. There is a strategery somewhere (fingers crossed).

He didn't. That's just a joke. It's as creditable as saying Hunter was the "stalking horse" for Schmuckabee.

Maybe Hunter should consider leading the Tea Party. I would support that. Screw the republicans, I can’t stand them much anymore.
