Two Pentagon police officers and a gunman are hospitalized after a shoot-out at the Metro station entrance to the Pentagon. Eyewitnesses say it started at 6:40pm. Pentagon Force Protection Agency says suspect walked up and wounded two officers.

Despite their injuries, those officers fired back and wounded the suspect...EMT first responders rushed all three to local hospitals...news conference at 8:45pm.

The Pentagon Metro station and Pentagon Transit Center have been reopened.

The alleged shooter was also injured and all three were taken to George Washington University Hospital. A spokesperson for the Pentagon Police Force said the suspected shooter walked into the entrance of the Pentagon at 6:40 and began shooting.

The “kill the infidels” part is speculation based on the fact that the police will not comment on the identity of the shooter and will not release any further information on his identity until tomorrow at the earliest. Million bucks says the shooter is a muzzie who was wearing body armor.

Update; The two officers, who belonged to the The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA), and the civilian gunman were all taken to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. The incident occured around 6:40pm Eastern time at the Metro entrance just outside the main doors to the historic five-sided building. Metro officials told AFP that Pentagon authorities were also investigating some suspicious packages at the scene. The Metro station returned to normal activity around 8:00pm but the area where the shootings occured was still restricted for investigative purposes. if the injuries were not grave, ID should be made by now...they're hiding something...count on it.

You may be correct, but the fact is this is a news article. You should know better than to make statements that aren't true unless you add the fact that you are speculating. It is hard enought sometimes to sort out facts from fiction without some FReeper adding BS to the mix.

That said, it is a distinct possibility that the guy was a muslim and that he was wearing body armor. However, if he was wearing a bullet proof vest why is he only "injured" when he should be dead from a head wound.

You might be surprised how many people actually hang on for several hours after suffering severe head trauma, like a gun-shot wound. It's not at all unlikely that is what brought him down.

I don't doubt it. The country is still reeling from Ft. Hood and just how the security of the country has plummeted...if it comes out........that the shooter was a jihadist. Well, I'm not sure what will happen but I think we can all agree, we are truly on our own in this nightmare.
