Dont look surprised. The left has been remarkably candid about this over the past year or two. Again and again and again and again and again and again and again theyve warned people that the dream is bigger than universal coverage or even the public option.
Memo from The One to progressives: Keep the dream alive.
Obama argued to the group of progressive members that his health care reform bill should be looked at as the foundation of reform, that can be built on in the future. He asked them to help gather votes for the final health care battle and promised that as soon as the bill was signed into law, hed continue to push to make it stronger. But in a matter of weeks, he stressed, he could sign into law legislation that would lead to 31 million new people being insured, including the woman who wrote him
He just said that the public option, something that he has supported along the way, is not something that we can pass. And he emphasized the fact that the decision now is between doing as much as we can do and doing nothing. Thats it. He thought the whole foundation thing that this is definitely something we could be proud of, something we could build off [of], said Schakowsky.
Woolsey told Obama that shed be introducing legislation to create a public option and Obama said he encouraged the effort, according to Schakowsky.
Heres an especially fun passage. Remember, Obama was self-described proponent of single-payer as recently as 2003 before deciding that its simply too impractical to pass. For now.
None of the members, including Kucinich, indicated that they would vote any differently this time around.

Lenin and Mao built on their dreams too.
They won't be so open in the future.

Hitler, too, had big dreams as he moved imaginary divisions around the table in the bunker. And the NDSP continued rubberstamping the fuhrer’s decrees right to the end. When Heinrich Holder walks into the whitehouse with his dog and family, we’ll know the end is near. I don’t know who gets to play Eva.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:
http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html
This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
nobama MUST return to his home planet. He MUST!!!!!!!
I'm 5 weeks shy of turning 53. After Granny and Gramps my age group will be next on their hit list.
I’m 63 and on disability, 3 forms of arthritis. So I know I’m on their list.
HELL?
I KNOW I'm on their hit list!
I APPLAUD THE AMERICAN PEOPLES COMPOSURE THRU ALL OF THIS IT’S GETTING HARDER EACH DAY TO BE CIVIL.
Remember when Obama said we needed comprehensive health care now, because he wanted to be the last president to ever deal with the problem?
Of course, Obama lies quite a bit.
For once he’s not lying. Oh the things they will do, the power they will have is the reason he’s willing to be a one term president and they are willing to lose seats over this....there is much to be gained for the Loony Liberals. I also think they are such elitists that they really believe on some level if they can just pass this “reform” then the American people will see how wonderful it is and embrace them. We’re just too stupid to realize it right now.
OA, OP, and Fibromyalgia, world is a blur with no glasses, and I need new ones every year, which I pay about $500 for not some ins. company, plus 15 lbs overweight.
