Democrats Drive Over a Cliff on Healthcare

Now that President Obama and congressional Democrats have dug in their heels on passing a healthcare reform bill, it’s clear they are intent on driving off a cliff.

In the latest poll by CNN and Opinion Research, 73 percent of Americans say they are opposed to any healthcare legislation or say they want Congress to start over again with a new bill. Only 25 percent want the current legislation passed.

Even Warren Buffett, a staunch Obama supporter, now says the bill needs to be redrafted to focus on reducing costs by providing the proper “incentives” and getting rid of the “nonsense.”

Why are Democrats so oblivious to the will of the people and the impact on their chances for re-election?

The Democrats honestly believe that they will be seen as saviors because they will expand coverage to millions who don’t have health insurance now.

Never mind that the bill would cost trillions of dollars, increase taxes and premiums, cut Medicare reimbursements, ration treatment, and degrade the quality of care. To cover that up, Obama uses phony figures spelled out in a Wall Street Journal editorial today.

The Democrats’ blindness is akin to the Detroit automakers’ refusal to take into account what consumers want.

John Fitzgerald, president of Fitzgerald Auto Malls in Rockville, Md., says he pointed out to Detroit executives for decades that Consumer Reports’ ratings have a huge impact on what consumers buy. In the 1960s, General Motors and Chrysler represented 66 percent of Consumer Reports’ recommendations, he says, compared with just 14 percent in this decade.

Consumer Reports has consistently given Japanese cars scores far higher scores for quality and reliability than cars made by American manufacturers.

“This is the kernel. I agree.

Now, more than ever, I feel like a German in early 30’s germany. My country has gone mad. It is going work out very badly for them. And me.

My only recourse is to mitigate the damage, which is one reason I bought the small farm in central Kentucky.”

You’ve stated exactly how I feel.
Central Kentucky is gorgeous, unfortunately, I’m not in a position to buy a farm there.

“I don’t know how even a 100% slanted media is going to save them from this...” I’m with unkus, I don’t trust the American public. Remember, it’s the same public that voted Obama in office, with virtually no vetting. I understand...I hope youse guys are wrong...hoping that this is a prime case of more than just buyers remorse and the polls are correct.

I was never about health care. The only way Marxism can take control os to first crash the country , which is exactly what healt care will do . It’s supposed to fail . The idea is to have everyone on government assistance so they can call the shots on everything. It’s a Marxist power grab. Obama needs to be impeached.

The Democrat’s socialist agenda is predicated on socialized medicine. Without it, their agenda cannot be realized. If it fails now, it will never pass in this country. The repudiation of 1993 and now would relegate it to loon talk forever. The hard core (Pres Obama, Pelosi, etc.) are willing to fall on their swords in the next few election cycles than have their dreams crushed forever.

We are dealing with people that are painted into a corner and they know it. This makes them dangerous.

Even out here in the wastelands, I’m seeing little hand made signs popping up in yards with such things as “NO GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE!” on them.

They’re not really out where hordes of people will actually see them but it does underscore the average Joe’s anger and desire to protest against this fascism, *somehow*.

I agree. It is in their best interest to destroy the economy in order to offer up their alternative. There is a flaw in THEIR logic though. 75% of the population (I actually think more) understand that the economy is in trouble, BECAUSE government screwed it up with overspending and taxation. The population is more apt to scrap them and reinstitute our founders vision of a limited federal government.

It might be useful, and even amusing, to photograph such signs and send said photos to one's congressthings.

If you send Barbara Mikulski enough of them, her head might explode.

I was in the hospital waiting room yesterday, while Mrs. Bustard was getting patched up ... and Zero was blathering on CNN. Couldn't help thinking this would be a lot more difficult if Zero, Pelousy, and GRied had their way.

Yes I generally agree...it's all a power grab and the idea to get cash going back into the Gov. coffers....nothing to do with health care. Like Copenhagen and cap and trade, giving EPA power...it's all getting cash flow and controlling it. I think we'll see a lot more “fines” for noncompliance in anything they pass...a lot more!

BO doesn't care what passes or which bill gets thru...he just wants one to sign and the glory for doing what all others failed. His peacock feathers will be fully extended as he struts after this.....Reminds me of a scripture....

...........”THEY STRUT THEIR EVIL BEFORE YOU”...........

I still don’t trust the ever increasing ratio of the entitlement people. Sorry to say. ;)

Sadly, you’re right on the mark.

Here’s something even weirder....since hubby found out he had to have a triple bypass, we’ve sat in a LOT of doctor’s offices and hospitals and _every single one of them_ is running Fox News on their waiting room TVs.

These same places *used* to run PMSNBC and CNN.

I don’t know whether the patients or staff are switching the channels but they’re doing it *everywhere*.

[and normally quiet waiting rooms become mini-mobs sniping at the tube every Obumma starts yapping]

A political sea change, maybe....or just collective outrage.

Either’s fine by me.

:)

I bought mine in Central Kentucky too, about three years ago and finally moved here last year. I am really happy about that decision.

Where do you live? I’m just wondering what part of the country is changing the channel. I live in Dallas and it appears CNN is still the favored channel. We all need to be aggressive and start asking them to change the channel to FOX.

Thry don't care. The radicals in charge are quite willing to wreck the Democratic Party for the next ten years. They see that they have a once-in-generations chance of ramming through socialized medicine and to them it is worth the temporary destruction of the Party if they can get this monstrosity enacted. They know that if they can, the so-called opposition's response will be merely to argue over who can administer the program better. The citizens will be outside the tent while inside, the camel settles down and plots the further Europeanization of America.

Not only will the Democrats fail to pass this in the House, they will lose Congress in November.

Obama, the Jim Jones of the Democrat Party is handing out the Kool-Aid to members of his Party and most of them are drinking it.

Good planning. I, too, have a small homestead, in Virginia. Trying to store away lots of goods to get me through the period when the U.S. reorganizes itself back into a constitutional republic.
