CBS has announced that Betty Nguyen is leaving CNN and joining the network as a full-time CBS News Correspondent as of March 11th. Nguyen will anchor "CBS Morning News" and report for "The Early Show."
Nguyen joined CNN in 2004 and is an anchor for the weekend editions of "CNN Newsroom." "She has a great on-air presence and brings a tremendous amount of hard news reporting and anchoring experience to CBS News," said CBS News and Sports president Sean McManus in a release.
Prior to her time at CNN, Nguyen started her career as an anchor at two CBS affiliates in Texas, first at KWTX in Waco, then KTVT in Dallas. Full announcement after the jump.

Thats a big Nguyen for CBS. ** applause **
Betty is easy on the eyes, but seems to be a genuinely unpleasant person. She'll fit right in at SeeBS.

"Leaving one sinking ship for another one?" There has been a continuing rumor that CBS and CNN will enter into a kind of joint venture with their news divisions, which will allow them to leverage resources and reduce costs. It has been a rumor for years, but recently those rumors have intensified and many industry people believe it's not a question of if, but when.

Boy, it's supremely ironic that a chick with a Vietnamese name would go to work for the very network that did more than any other entity to ensure the communist takeover of her home country and the subsequent slaughter of her people.
Makes you wonder why we even bother to send American boys off to these strange lands to fight and die for people who simply aren't worth the fighting for or the dying.

Is this a back-up plan when they low ball Katie Couric on her new contract?

You are assuming that she was not in favor of that takeover. Considering her employment history, it’s a questionable assumption.

CBS could make an obscene amount of revenue if they had a pay-per-view caged catfight between Ms. Couric and Ms. Cooper to determine the next Evening News spokesmodel.

She’s too young to remember Vietnam. She’s two months older than me and I don’t remember Vietnam. Heck, I barely remember the first Iraq war in 1991.

"Betty is easy on the eyes, but seems to be a genuinely unpleasant person."Every person I've watched on CNN and on Headline News has struck me that way. Even the knockout blonde they have on HLN seems like she's looking down her nose when she talks about Republicans or Bush.
