Should It Be Illegal to Be a Jew in Massachusetts?
Townhall.com ^ | 3/4/10 | Maggie Gallagher

New legislation now being proposed in the Massachusetts state legislature to ban circumcision of any male children, including Jewish children, comes very close to saying, "Yes, it should be a crime." Circumcision of infant males has been a requirement of Jewish faith and identity since the time of Abraham.

Meanwhile, just a year ago this week, two very powerful state legislators in Connecticut proposed a bill that would have had the government take over the finances of the Catholic Church. (It took a rally drawing thousands of folks to the state capitol to persuade them to withdraw the measure.)

How did we reach the point where powerful people seriously consider such outrageous intrusions on religious liberty? These "shots across the bow" are skirmishes in a larger war between a newly triumphant liberalism and older American values, including pluralism, conscience protection and respect for religious liberty.

Some things just get crazier and crazier.

If the State took over the finances o the Catholic Church, they would have more money for their spending sprees. But than the ‘scandals’ would be too much ... gov’t would implode.

It has never been any different.
In Indiana some years ago there was a bill in the legislature to redefine Pi as 3.0 instead of 3.14159... Some legislator thought it would help school children in their math calculations.

This will never pass, and not because of the Jews (legislators don’t care about them these days). It infringes on the rights of Muslims, too!

Some Arabs are also circumcised but later, not at birth.

There are many Jews in MA.Of course,many of them are *atheists* but that a discussion for another day.If this passes I'll wager that it's overturned by some court.But I wouldn't wager a *lot*.

1st amendment:

“ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. “

and like the 2nd amendment....it is as plain on the nose on your face....unless you are zer0bama...than I suppose his nose berry gets in the way..

Massachusetts isnt broke enough. It needs to find a way to imprison productive Jews for 14 years each (at a cost to other taxpayers of about a half million bucks per person). This seems as good a way as any.

Apparently MA has decided to unilaterally strike down the First Amendment...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

I think I read once that circumcised boys have a lower incidence of one or more diseases.I seem to recall cancer having been mentioned.

Well, heck, this would apply to Muslims, too, since there is a requirement for them, too.

But fear not, many do consider this more a sanitary and hygeinic measure than a religious one.

That knife cuts both ways, ouch!

The Left is just groping for anything sufficiently outrageous to enflame the population and start a rebellion. Then the left can crackdown and impose a dictatorship. They just want us to start the process.

Tomorrow they will come up with some other stupid, aggravating un-American idea.

We have Hitler reborn in all levels of our local, state and federal government.

Never Again is a hollow cry when uttered by Liberal Anti-Semites. This time around, Jews won’t be alone. Big Brother has a huge enemies list.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
