Tell DC OFF: Only fill out # of people in your home on Census form, Change withholding to 20
March 3, 2010 | steelers6

Posted on 03/03/2010 6:23:25 PM PST by Steelers6

When you get your census form in a couple of weeks just fill out the number of people in your household. Also, go into your employer tommorrow and ask for a W-2 Blue Card and change your Federal exemptions to 20 with no other withholding. Increase your state to the maximum allowed as well unless you have no state income tax.

They don't want to do what we ask, it's time to send a message.

It is illegal to raise your withholding exemptions to a level you do not legitimately expect to claim on your return.

It is also a red flag to the IRS that says “come audit me.”

I know we are all mad at DC, but don't try any of the BS justifications here. The IRS has heard them all.

Want to have an angry jury judge you? They will be when the US Atty tells them that they paid their taxes, but you didn't.

It's very simple. You could go to the federal penitentiary for this.

There is a special word for people who follow advice like that:

“Inmate”

Don’t be stupid. The IRS can and will come after you and give you more legal problems than you can imagine.

Census:

I intend to answer only the number of adults living here.

All else I plead the fifth.

I fear that I might make a mistake and self-incriminate myself. Just ask Skippy and whats her name.

Unless it’s been changed, if you keep it at 9, it doesn’t get reported.

The better method is to increase the number by 1 per year. Over 20 years you get to the same point. Then you only have to find enough extra deductions that year to cover the increase of one. It is a form of continuous program.

I don’t know about 20 withholdings, but it is in one’s financial interest to increase your withholdings to the maximum number allowed by law. Why should the fedgov hold on to your money for up to 12 months before it is due without paying you interest. Instead, take that difference and put it in an interest bearing account. Then, when tax time comes around, pay the difference in the taxes out of that account. You might as well pay yourself interest on your tax withholdings.

I always laugh when people cheer they get a big refund. They just don’t get it.

Not if the total tax liability is paid when due on April 15th.....unless someone changed it.

Got mine today. The question about household members says to enter the name(s) of the people living in the residence on April 1, 2010. What, are we prophets? If you plan on moving this month, you should be able to enter zero and not answer the rest.

change your Federal exemptions to 20 with no other withholding

Except that underwitholding is a crime punishable by a fine taxed to your next income tax return.

Maxing out W2s - We’ve been doing this for a while.

It’s a good strategy. Why let the federales abuse our money for a year...
