He’s on Hunters payroll...
I know....
Sarah dressed more casual, wearing jeans because it fits with the stand-up comedy routine she did at the end of her segment, and Leno and his staff were aware of it. As far as I can remember most stand-up comedians wear jeans or otherwise dress casually. It was a subtle and funny touch by Sarah.
I think too many folks just can't see the forest for the trees and get stuck on minutia. She was dressed more casual because this was a casual appearance on a casual forum. That's all.
And thanks to b9 for pinging me to the thread. I find the talk about the jeans really hilarious ... she looked good and she looked hip; the clothes brought out the best in her and were absolutely appropriate for the occasion -- she's a Westerner and dressed like one. The hilarious part is that while the midwest and the midwest mystique has contributed so much to America -- Walt Disney and his Mainstreet, The Music Man, solid "flyover" traditional values, etc., fashion is ONE thing the midwest is ... well, decidedly NOT gifted for, unless you consider Land's End and LL Bean to be designer stuff! [^) If Sarah had worn dark straight-legged denims, she'd have looked like a dork.
BUT MORE IMPORTANT, Sarah Palin was just kept hitting them out of the park, again and again, with confidence and courage and humor. My favorite bit was when Leno was quizzing her about becoming a talk show host and she knocked on his desk and said that she heard that THIS spot comes up needing a guest host now and then ... Man, that was fast, and it was good.
And to think that I was really hesitant to watch the clips because I just didn't have the heart to see Palin knocked around by Liberal heavyweights on their own territory again. I sure did underestimate her. She's got IT. She can handle herself and did.
Thanks again for this great thread.
:::thank you:::
...interesting...
It was a description of what happened during the commercial here, not a judgment about what was said.
Preconceived notions fail you.
Thanks for posting these! I finally watched Sarah. She did well in her interview, but really knocked it out of the part in the monologue!
The majority of the audience were there for Adam......We had a few Palin people behind us but they were clearly in the minority. The audience was very polite even though many of us are not Palin supporters.
-- snip --
Why can't Adam and Palin fans be in the same person? I am.
-- snip --
I'm a Palin AND Adam supporter. There's a lot of us. A LOT of Palin supporters are Independents.....fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
-- snip --
I love Adam, and I don't dislike Palin.
I think there is room in the world for all of them. I'm glad there was such a diverse group on his show and that Leno showed respect to ALL of them.

Another Adam and Palin supporter here, who normally doesn't feel the need to respond to small-minded stereotyping of "Middle-America".

Stacy.
I think I am going too! I applied for tickets for the 2nd and got them. I am not sure that the 4:00 pm taping is for the show that airs the same night rumored to include Adam. Below is my question and their response - I am not sure what to think?!
Where are you from? Are you going to Fantasy Springs show?

Subject: QUESTIONI just received word from you that I have been confirmed tickets for taping of 3-2-10 show.
I am very excited! I have never been a part of a studio audience before and I have always enjoyed Mr. Leno. I am double excited as the person on the show on March 2nd is Adam Lambert and I wanted to be sure that this 4:00 taping is for that show with Adam Lambert.
Also, I am flying in from Texas your email states that ticket does not guarantee admission. Should I do something more to make sure I get admitted after traveling such a distance?
Please confirm. Many thanks!
Since this is prerecorded I just wanted to be sure I had the tickets I wanted cause it will cost me a pretty penny to stay the three extra days to attend before flying back to Texas. What do you think?

Dear [Vicky],
In regard to your question about Adam Lambert, we currently do not have that information. However, Adam Lambert did post that information on his personal blog.
Regarding admittance to the show, an email confirmation does not guarantee you will get in. To maximize your chances of being admitted into the show, we recommend that you arrive earlier than 2:45pm. Thank you and we look forward to having you at the taping!
Sincerely,
NBC Guest RelationsI am in sec NN row N and will be wearing black leather, blue boas and a good share of rhinestones and glitter too!
Hope to see you at Leno show!

As of yesterday at 1:40 pm this show is already full.
I requested tickets in the morning and recieved a return email in the afternoon letting me know it was full. What a bummer!!
She is a beautiful breath of fresh air and a very strong and excellent woman.
God bless Sarah.
...While those at home may have had varied reactions to Palins appearance, the studio audience ate it up.The cheers were vociferous throughout her time with Leno, an indicator that Leno likely brought in millions of Palin supporters during last nights broadcast.
If thats true, then both Leno and Palin won last nights game.
I have NEVER "bashed" Sarah. Look for a post from me bashing Sarah. You won't find ONE. Get your facts straight before you call someone a liar. Foolish on your part.
Excellent post. Thanks. Very funny.
Leno Gets His Audience BackSo, THAT'S how they got in!
...in addition to my "Adam Lambert" posts upthread......here's a ANOTHER CLUE as to what may be in it, eventually.
From hillbuzz.org:
March 3, 2010 at 1:54 amYoure right. And considering that Shaun White was also on, I would have expected many young Obama voters in the audience.
I was secretly hoping that Shaun would say something nice about Sarah, and maybe help to change some opinions of her. I know, silly pipedream!
I will certainly vote for Sarah Palin if she is the Republican nominee...but I still say the majority of voters (women in other words) don’t want to put a woman in the white house. If she is nominated I would not be at all surprised if she gets more votes from men than from women.
“Obama is about as funny as Leonid Brezhnev.”

Why are you insulting Brezhnev?

msnbc.com
updated 9:49 a.m. PT, Wed., Feb. 24, 2010Adam Lambert will indeed be appearing on "The Tonight Show" on Tuesday along with the former governor of Alaska, conservative Sarah Palin. NBC confirmed the appearance Tuesday (2/23) after Lambert Tweeted last week that hed be on Lenos new stage.
There was speculation that there might be tension over whether the conservative politician and the very liberal Lambert were able to be in the same studio. According to sources directly involved with the booking, this was overblown.
"It had nothing to do with that Adam had some scheduling issues that needed to be worked out," said the source. "Until those conflicts on his end were worked out, it just couldnt be announced. Theres really no drama involved."
It helps to have "inside" information. :o)
