The Youth War On US
Bob Parks: Black & Right ^ | 3/2/10 | Bob Parks

There was an old English saying, "A mayde schuld be seen, but not herd" which has since morphed into 'Children should be seen and not heard'. The latter was the world I grew up in, and as one finds as one grows up, there is wisdom in old sayings.

I remember being with my father and his friends as a child, and that saying was the rule, because of course, I had very little to offer an adult conversation. That was then.

I also remember the Bill Clinton/Whitney Houston 80s and 90s. Bill Clinton for coining the phrase "for the children" and Whitney Houston for that sappy song "The Greatest Love Of All' with what we thought were harmless lyrics....

I believe the children are our are future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Between the two of them, talk about the makings of the big head.

Amen Bob.

I can recall being allowed to sit in the midst of my father’s circle of friends. The notion of lipping off to one of them never occurred to me. I knew that the price of admission was simple: “Speak when spoken to, and then do so respectfully”.

Ah well, you know what they say...”Times change”...

When we were kids, adult-neighbors were Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The 5 y/o next door calls me by my first name. I say hi and go away. I don’t think it’s cute, I think it’s disrespectful. It’s hard finding hope these days.

Year unemployed now. This change S U C K S ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Good rant, Bob. Good to see you.

Between the entertainers and indoctrinators (somewhat redundant but I’m referring to government schools) many children severed ties with many standards their parents deemed noble, rational, timeless. The long march through the universities has produced a generation of useful idiots. Identify them. De-program them if you can.

Keep in mund that Obama plans to use our children as weapons against us. Maybe not OUR children, but someone's, and the less civilized and acculturated the better.

Pol Pot used children to great effect also. They murdered the adults of Cambodia.

On that topic,

what do you think adult, married with kids, 20 somethings

should call their parents’ peers?

I’m having a dilemma with this, as I’m in the “peer” group, but these new parents are not “children” and I want them to be respected as parents as well.

Good point. I’ve already talked to my kids. They know were I stand. I talk to young people (over 18 under 40) every day. About 75% of the ones that MIGHT have an inkling to discuss politics/philosophy they are uninformed/non-judgemental/non-committal. That’s scary.

On the other hand I do talk to about 25% who are informed, alert and have an historical/philosophical perspective on the current situation.

Back to the scary part...less than 50% might have an inkling to talk about politics/philosophy. Given our current situation...that’s frightening.

Trust but verify.
