Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky had been single-handedly blocking the $10 billion measure, causing federal furloughs and threatening the unemployment benefits of hundreds of thousands of people. He was seeking to force Democrats to find ways to finance the bill so that it wouldn't add to the deficit, but his move sparked a political tempest that has subjected Republicans to withering media coverage and cost the party politically.

LOL

And why is voting GOP going to change ANYTHING!?

The tea party MUST coalesce into a new national party.

I heard on the radio in my car that the Democrats had agreed to find a way to pay for it. If that is true, it sounds like Bunning was the one who won.

He will introduce legislation calling for the money to be taken from the unspent stimulus funds.

The dems are bragging that they have the votes to defeat the Bunning legislation.

If only Scott Brown had half the courage of Bunning rather than vote for a $10 billion so called jobs bill.

If he was going to give in, he never should have made an issue of it.

Bunning should have forced the Senate to pay for it!

The tea party MUST coalesce into a new national party.

You know that is putting everything on the line. If that party doesn't win, doesn't get a majority, a greater disaster than obambino could be in the works.

Under the TARP law that is simply illegal.

Once again, barely a dimes worth of difference between the two big govt. parties.

The OP(formerly the GOP) and the socialist RATs are two sides of the same coin. They are two wings of one big socialist Republicrat party. A party based on strong conservative principles will restore the two party system.

How can, in the face of the Washington Post’s, and ABC’s retreat, can the media be withering?

Sorry to say the Republicans have again lost their spine. The dems are only delaying the pain and bankrupting our nation in the process. Perhaps the Tea Party movement can replace the Republicans and give us somebody who understands this?

The genius Dems think the pain will be less by delaying the inevitable, but like Pelosi’s Rangel, it just gets worse.

one of the CSpans has the Senate about to vote shortly on Sen. Jim Bunning’s point of order.

When the dems do something, they stick together.

Republicans don’t. Way to go Mitch!

It has to begin with somebody. Perhaps someone else will, by Bunning's example, find the b*lls to follow suite.

This could be the way it starts.
