White House officials tell ABC News that in his remarks tomorrow President Obama will indicate a willingness to work with Republicans on some issue to get a health care reform bill passed but will say that if it is necessary, Democrats will use the controversial reconciliation rules requiring only 51 Senate votes to pass the "fix" to the Senate bill.
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have been awaiting the presidents remarks direction on how health care reform will proceed.
In his remarks, scheduled to be at the White House, the president will paint a picture of what he will say will happen without a health care reform bill skyrocketing premiums, everyone at the mercy of the insurance industry as recently seen with the 39% premium increases proposed by Anthem Blue Cross in California.
He will note that the fixed bill will include the proposal for a new "Health Insurance Rate Authority" to set guidelines for reasonable rate increases. If proposed premium increases are not justifiable per those Health Insurance Rate Authority guidelines, the Health and Human Services Secretary or state regulators could block them.
The president will outline the plan to pass the bill, including having the House of Representatives pass the Democratic Senate health care reform legislation as well as a second bill containing various fixes.
He will say that if Republicans refuse to allow and up or down vote in the Senate on the fixes to the bill, Democrats will use the reconciliation rules.
He will argue these rules are perfectly appropriate because the procedure is not being used for the whole bill, just for some fixes; because reconciliation rules are traditionally used for deficit reduction and health care reform will reduce the deficit;

We had better protest this and stop this now. We will not be able to simply reverse the legislation without greatly heightened tensions. Once the “entitled” public has it, they won’t give it up without a fight (perhaps violent).
“I am sick of this crap already, if he wants to do it so badly, do it already, I dare him to, it will be the end of the Democratic party, we can repeal this crap. The Democrats will lose the house and senate. If Obama has a death wish go for it. Sick and tired of these damn games”
End of the Democratic Party? Sadly, there is no chance of that.
And no, we will never repeal it if the Democrats get this passed - and they probably will.
Yes, it will be a total disaster, but that will be the Democrats reason to further government involvement till we have a full single payer system. That is their goal, and the American people seem pretty happy to march down the road towards European socialism.
Look at what is happening to Bunning? Asking that we at least pay for the additional 10 billion in spending on unemployment benefits and the Democrats and media are having a field day mocking him because they know the American people are suckers who can’t stomach someone not getting their freebies. We aren’t even arguing about the wisdom of extending these benefits for 2 years now, and we can’t even get more than 1 senator to at least suggest we pay for it.
No, this will pass. Yes, the Democrats are going to have a bad November this year, that is bound to happen whether HCR lives or dies, but in the long run, getting more people dependent on government only insures the leftists lock on power. Just look at Europe, where the conservative parties are about as rightwing as our Democrats.
*snort* It was always Bull shi*t. heh always dumbasse*s.
Get it?
“And America will bury EVERY Democrat in 2010.”
Respectfully, don’t count your chickens.
There are always those “brilliant” independents who will pull it out for the Democrats.
IMHO
If Pelosi gets 216 votes to pass the Senate bill, we are hosed. That is the battle we had better be waging right now without stopping until we win.
“then Obama can veto it. Sending it back to the House and Senate, where a 2/3 majority has to vote to override it”
If the GOP gets majorities in both Houses, why not exclude it from funding in the annual budget saying there is no money to cover it and let Obama veto the budget and effectively shutdown government?
The “summit” made them more determined than ever to commit this crime on Americans.
Betting that Senator Byrd puts a screehing stop to this blatant trashing of His RULE!! The Old KKK Grand Leader will go after the Kenyan Krock of Krap like the Tsunami’s flattened Chile’s Seacoast Towns and Cities!!
They were scheduled to do it on Monday. They don’t have the votes.
They are still trying though.
Go for it, IDIOTS!
Just shut up and do it!
“...because reconciliation rules are traditionally used for deficit reduction and health care reform will reduce the deficit.”
HA!
Yes.
They pass this thing, we should have 20 million or more people show up on their doorstep with malintent.
honest to god, that son-of-a-b*tch is not going to destroy this country no matter how hard he tries so long as we have our arms and legs.
Interesting. Do you have those clips?
This is political war...
They ram it down we ram it back out, until one side gets tired and then the gulags come out. Nothing left then but Venezuela.
Remember the Constitution, it was designed to protect the rights of the minority.
Do we really want to go down that road? Will we even be able to?
Yes the R's have been standing strong so far but if we do get them elected, I'm wondering how long it will take before the R drops from their names once they eye the loot.
Repealing this monstrosity will be impossible. 30 million people who now will have free health care will be whipped into a frenzy by Acorn, SEIU, the Center for American Progess, the MSM, every DemonRat. No way will the Repubs vote to repeal it. They will vote to save their careers.
I am afraid, that if this passes, there will be no way to get rid of it. Like Social Security, Medicare, Medicade. This is our last stand. If the Rats succeed, it is the beginning of the end of our Republic—just what they plan. One more step to World Government. Please tell me I am wrong. Please.
I think that's right. If Obama is not reelected, then the GOP has a chance - a slim chance - to repeal at least some of it. But, if Obama is reelected, this will never be repealed, and over time, it will mean the end of free-market health care, to nothing of bankrupting the country.
