The House Resources and Conservation Committee approved House Bill 531aa 13 to 3. This important legislation, sponsored by Representative Judy Boyle (R-Midvale), would amend Idaho’s existing law to limit public access to Fish and Game records of issued tags. HB 531aa would also prohibit future harassment, intimidation and threats relating to the lawful taking and control of fish and wildlife. As the law currently stands any person or organization can contact Fish and Game and request the names of all people who have been issued tags and what type of hunting tag they have been issued.
Groups like PETA and HSUS have shown how radical they can be when it comes to their attempts to end hunting. Hunters have been at the forefront of conservation and the ultimate defenders of wildlife in this country for generations. Hunter recruitment and retention are needed more than ever to protect America’s wildlife and habitat. A father who introduces his daughter to hunting and the outdoors should not be subjected to crude and harassing acts, including potentially dangerous attacks that the radicals sometimes resort to.
During the 2009 hunting season, the names of all people who had a wolf tag were printed in a local paper and subsequently broadcasted nationally. Although these hunters followed the law and direction by Idaho’s wildlife experts, they were incessantly harassed by anti-hunting groups. It is the intention of Representative Boyle to prevent such future harassment and the NRA supports her effort to protect hunters’ rights to privacy and protection.
Hunters should be able to enjoy their favorite pastime and heritage without concern of harassment and intimidation because others do not approve.

How about sending cards to PETA and daring them to harass us. You don’t actually have to hunt wolves to get wolf tags, do you?
Nope. Don’t even have to actually own a gun either.
Sounds like very common sense legislation given the idiocy of the PETA crowd and their allies. Please ping me when this legislation has passed because we have a good state representative here in Pennsylvania who would be favorably inclined to introduce it here once the precedent is established.
When they wanted to publish the concealed weapons permits, I was all for it...let the criminals know who isn’t armed....and just how many of us are. (It’s quit a bit)
