A fresh start is a fine idea. (1) It would fully restore filibuster capability, and (2) it took 14 months to get to this point ... by the time they get back here, we’ll be running the show.

Yes, starting over is good politics and good legislation. Keeping the Dems talking about anything other than jobs hurts them. Starting over would be a confession of defeat & incompetence. The new bill could not be worse. The only down side is I hope the Dems talk about reconciliation for another week or so — it drives independents insane and the blue dogs slowly bleed.... And, when recon fails, the hard fringe will explode.

I agree that in theory, this is a good idea. I also agree that Hayworth is pressuring McCain to jump through our hoops right now. But with McCain at the helm, legislation usually turns out bad.
