McCain calls for a fresh start for health care (SNATCHING DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY)

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) – Arizona Senator John McCain wants President Obama to start health care reform all over again. He argues polls suggest Americans want a clean start and he says it needs more bipartisan support.

"This bill was written by Democrats for Democrats and then they tried and I understand power. What they try to do is peel off a couple of Republicans as they did with the stimulus bill and call it bipartisan," McCain said.

Lots of folks here just assume anything McCain said is bad.

He is saying exactly what Demint etc. has said....scrap the bill and start over.

Yet Freepers who can’t read instantly scream RINO.

Some of you people really have to learn to think before speaking.

Sure, he may be, but how do you complain about him saying to “start over”, when the entire Republican message, repeated by conservatives, has been “start over”?

Oh wait.... I see a gang of 16, 4 and 4 on each side from the House and Senate to craft a new bill in extra-consitutional fashion... Just like the gang of 14 and McCain Feingold here to save the day.

“Some of you people really have to learn to think before speaking.”

I think what I said is an accurate representation of what we can expect from McCain. Having been kicked by him more times than I care to recount, I feel obligated to kick him back whenever the urge arises. Most of us freepers know good and well how McCain thinks and what we think of him.

Careful thought and deliberate words is becoming rare in many areas. It requires effort and some degree of discipline, something they lack.

They are also many who think all of their obstacles should be removed so they don’t have to deal with them. That is why they scream for a duly elected representative of the state of Arizona to “shut up and go away”,

Arizona will decide in November if they want him to speak for them. until then he not only has the right but the duty to speak in their behalf.

I agree that a fresh start is necessary. Rush has made some insightful comments on the relation between health care providers and the recipients/patients (no decider between them) and the mentality that insurance is going to pay so the provider and recipient don’t have to be concerned about cost. If this and tort reform is realized we will again have medical care at a reasonable cost.

You make a faulty assumption that McCain and DeMint are on the same side.

“I can’t stand McPain, but I don’t see what your problem is here. If he’s saying “Start from scratch,” that’s pretty much what we want them to do.”

The problem is that McCain only became a conservative 8 weeks ago, and if and when he wins, he will dedicate his life to destroying the conservative cause like he has done for the past 20 plus years.

This thread is a pretty good opportunity for some of you (rab, I’m looking in your direction) to confront and admit that you have McCain Derangement Syndrome. Seriously, you may not be able to process information in a sane fashion if it has any relation to McLame.

To whit:

McCain’s position that we should start over is the same position Paul Ryan holds.

It’s the same position that a large number of freepers hold.

It’s the same position 60% of the American people hold.

It’s the same position expressed on countless tea party signs, at countless town halls and in countless phone calls to Congress.

It’s a position that would, at worst, tie Obambi’s socialist agenda up for months.

Yet, if McLame stakes out this position, he’s “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.”

Um...no. Not even close.

We don’t want the gub’mint intruding in our lives, Juan, you old fool. We want a reset to the Constitution, not a do over of congress critters and presidents fiddling with healthcare or anything else.

And every time McLame goes bipartisan, the Democrats get something they want.

Thanks, but no thanks!

Mr. Silverback, I have read a number of your posts over the years. You are a pretty intelligent fellow. How you can be sucked in by McCain’s 8 week transformation into a conservative is beyond me. He is a scourge , and anathema to everything conservatives hold dear. Don’t fall for the con.
