President Obama and the Democrat Party have made a public policy goal of "Health Care Reform," often using the euphemism "Health Insurance Reform." Last Thursday, the President and the Democrats held a nationally televised "summit" whereby they were to demonstrate their vast superiority of insight on this subject. Considering that the Democrats have been studying and legislating this issue for more than a year, the President displayed a striking lack of even fundamental understanding of insurance of any kind. (3 min You Tube video proof)
Some have commented on the President's pointless analogy describing his personal experience with auto liability insurance. This was not the President's only blazingly stupid argument. At one point the President, clearly believing he was scoring winning points in an intellectual discussion, went into bizarre detail about how insurance works. That is, the concept of pooling risk. The President explained that he and and his congressional counterparts enjoyed "low" insurance rates because they had a large "pool." The President contended that he would be creating such a "pool" for the rest of America - that we might all enjoy rates as "low" as his own.
The President seems totally oblivious to the fact that his rates are not what most Americans consider to be "low." The average family rate for a Federal Employee is $1,030.00 per month. (source L.A. Times Aug. 2, 2009)...

Answer to thread question, NO!!!
No. He also does not seem to know how private business operates.
Make it just like Auto insurance. Period.
Yes, he thinks its a redistributive model designed to make all peoples feel good. So, that would be “no” he doesn’t understand insurance. Have you ever wondered why politicians ever thought that selling insurance would be a good way to burnish their approval ratings with the public? I mean, between used car salesmen and insurance salesmen which one would you have picked to enhance your public image?
Does he pay $1K or do the taxpayers(us).
His auto insurance anecdote was embarassing and his statement that his daughter’s care was due to having *good* insurance coverage was insulting to the medical profession.
We have the best medical care in history - it’s expensive - and if all Americans want to insure against the risk of having a catastrophic illness or injury they should take responsibility for its cost. That means purchasing insurance, in advance, through employment or private plans.
Much like we insure our homes and autombiles, which can be replaced. We should insure our bodies, which cannot.
No he does not but just like understanding history, the constitution etc; he does not care. He does not have to understand any of it, he is just interested in whatever it takes to gain control and power. Does anyone think that Stalin understood agricultural production when he implemented his collectivization program? Does anyone think that he really cared?
It is also clear he is terrible liar .
Obama has the street hustler paranoid mentality that “THE MAN” is always out to get him and his black brothers and sisters.
He doesn’t need to know any actual facts or need to understand functions, relationships, or standards either.
Look at how he jumped to a totally wrong conclusion during the Harvard Profesor episode. As soon as he heard a black man had a confrontation with a Law Enforcement Officer he immediately “knew” the black man was innocent and THE MAN had singled him out for unfair treatment.
He’s partly right. The large pool that shares his risk is every taxpayer and particularly the middle class taxpayers. In essense, we’re all already in the pool with no benefit to us.
But, I’m told he’s brilliant.
He certainly doesn’t understand adverse selection.
He doesn't understand auto liability!
Obama doesn’t understand The Senate Rules, the economy, foreign affairs, domestic affairs, and the American voters. He does understand community organizing, Chicago politics, corruption!!!!!
After hearing some of his spiels about mandating coverage for pre-existing conditions, I believe the answer is "No." Insurance was "invented" as a risk-sharing mechanism, not so that someone can be covered after he already has a condition. One cannot buy life insurance on the life of someone who has already died, nor can you buy fire insurance on a building which has already burned down. What makes health insurance any different?
If BO is brilliant, the rest of us can't breathe on our own!
He understands perfectly. His destructive direction is intentional, not negligent.
Obama doesn’t understand why ANY private company is in business to make a profit rather than promote Social Justice.
The left and their followers equate profit with greed.
They fail to understand that profit is what leads to better innovation of a desired product.
The democrats have no idea how insurance is SUPPOSE to work. Insurance should only be used in catastrophic cases, which would otherwise bankrupt a family.
Sally getting a runny nose, and her mom only having to pay a $5 copay to take her to the emergency room is NOT insurance!
Sally getting terminal brain cancer that requires 5 million in bills for Chemo is what insurance is for.
