Harvard Universitys decades-old ROTC ban on campus may soon be a thing of the past, some students and faculty members say.
While Harvard announced last week that its taking part in a new mentoring program for returning veterans trying to establish civilian careers, the buzz on campus is how much longer Harvards Vietnam-era ban on ROTC can last.
The bans future appears to hinge on whether President Obama and Congress abolish the militarys dont ask/dont tell policy toward gays serving in the armed services. If the controversial policys days are numbered, then so is the ROTC ban at Harvard - or so the theory goes.

Keep the ban and tell Harvard to stuff itself.
What the hell is a “mentoring program” when you have an elitist, liberal, military-hating place such as Hahvahd’?
Best reason I ever heard for keeping the ban.
Harvard? Who are they?
I have a better idea. Ban all federal money to universities that ban ROTC.
Harvard is a private university.
And students there get no federal money? No subsidized student loans? Researchers there get no federal money to conduct research?
I don’t know the answer to that question. I don’t disagree with your stance, but I question its relevancy.
Harvard wants to be ready to pack the program with homosexuals.
One of their very own communists is generalissimo.
Harvard (like most other liberal institutions) is broke. If they let the ROTC in, they’ll probably get more money.
Just my knee jerk reaction.
40 years........roughly a generation or so...yeah that was long enough to “purge” any true warriors/conservatives from it’s midst. Just imagine the fine officers that will come from there.
In those 40 years the left got the women in and they got homosexuals in under DADT and they may be close to getting fully open homosexuality and lesbianism in through Obama, or Romney in 2012, so it is about time that the left take a second look at the whole military “thing”, it is a much more fertile playground for their agenda than it was in 1970.
After a while, the dirt has come off the dirty kid and made the clean kid dirty.
The clean NEVER comes off the clean kid and make the dirty kid clean.
No ROTC in Hahvid
I think your knee just jerked into Harvard’s greedy balls. They’ll say it is because of the dropping of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy (i.e. discrimination), but money still talks and Harvard is full of bullshiters.
Ask and ye shall receive the knowledge:
Enter “HARVARD COLLEGE” in the field of “Awardee”
Wait a few moments and you’ll have your answer. Which is “a whole lot of money.”
So if the ban was to protest the Vietnam war, why didn’t they re-instate the ROTC after the war was over.
What a pant lode of liberal elitest B.S.
I’m sure it has nothing to do with Harvards money stash taking a massive hit during the credit crisis.
>Harvard wants to be ready to pack the program with homosexuals.
I dont think it’s wise to mix words such as “pack” and homosexuals’ together in the same sentence.
Stuff?
