Arrest Made in Case of Missing California Girl By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: February 28, 2010
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Authorities say a registered sex offender has been arrested in the disappearance of a missing suburban San Diego teenager.
San Diego County Sheriff William Gore tells The Associated Press that 30-year-old John Albert Gardner of Riverside County was arrested Sunday afternoon. He says investigators suspect Gardner is tied to the disappearance of 17-year-old Chelsea King of Poway, who went for a run on Thursday and didn't return.
Gore says investigators linked Gardner to the crime through physical evidence recovered by investigators searching Rancho Bernardo Community Park, where King vanished. He wouldn't elaborate on the evidence.

I have a serious problem with the rationale of “registered sex offenders”. If they are dangerous, keep them locked up, if not, let them be. This sounds like a case of someone who should have still been in jail.
Amber was from Escondido. Same general area.
Won’t be surprised if it turns out Gardner is guilty of abducting both girls, attacking the jogger and others.
No need to waste the airfare.
Vigilante justice could easily be rendered locally.

He was arrested outside of Hernandez Hideaway off of Del Dios Hwy, based on the street locations the police provided.
This whole thing makes me sick...prayers for Chelsea, her family and friends.

Dozens of TV satelite trucks from NY, Court TV, etc.
6am the Today show cast from NY would be out front of Superior Count with cameras interviewing Asst DAs, etc.
Same on many other high profile cases.
