This image shows how big a block of pennies would be for 10 trillion dollars.
Unfortunately the projected deficit under Obamacare would (or will be) 12 Trillion.
Those first 2 buildings on the left are the Sears Tower and the Empire State Buiding.

I’m kinda curious about the physics of that many pennies all together like that.

At first I thought it would be bigger but volume gets really big really quick because of the 3 dimensions.
I thought of something else that could fit in that space.
Divide it into volumes of 2 ft by 2ft by 8 ft, which would hold just about any person except for the very obese.
You’d have room for 635 million of those spaces, so even giving some extra room for fat people you could get the entire population of North America in there.
Did you know you could give the entire world population a space of one ft by two ft (again too small for fat people) and fit everybody IN THE WORLD into a good-sized US county.

That illustration also works for the comparative volume of Øbama’s ego.

I’m kinda curious about the physics of that many pennies all together like that. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One thing is this: At some height, such a tower's weight would overcome the compressive strength of the material of construction. It would get messy before it got that tall. Perhaps there is some analogy in economic terms.

"I wrote a little article about that, to show how BIG our country really is... Texas alone could hold the entire world's population in relative spaciousness." Whenever I hear some greenie weenie start in on how overcrowded the planet is I ask him/her how many states in the USA would the entire population of the earth cover if we all got together for an aerial group photo.
Usually they answer from 10-25 states.
They are astonished when the find out the answer is zero. (Not even Rhode Island)

I am not sure you can actually represent our debt with pennies.. Because doesn’t it actually cost more than a penny to make a penny?

Incidentally, if our entire money system consisted of pennies, we would have zero national debt. This is because coins are an obligation of the US Treasury and thus are debt-free and fiat. Contrast coins with Federal Reserve Notes, which are created by the Federal Reserve and lent to the US Government in exchange for bonds (debt).

I remember seeing that posted here last year. Thanks for the reminder.

I get similar astonishment from "Awarmist" (or "Walarmist") types when I give them the answer to this puzzle about the total amount of CO2 in the atmosphere (360 ppm):
The answer: "Your plane's wheels would still be on the runway in NY!" ;-)
