This is about the shipment of TOY guns the ATF recently confiscated.
Note that at 1:17, the "Special" Agent is performing a demonstration and tries to put the magazine in BACKWARDS. If he wanted to prove just how "special" he really is, he succeeded magnificently. He also succeeded in adding to the long line of ATF (i.e. FBI rejects) screwups that have made the agency a laughing stock it is today.
The outrageous contention by the ATF that these TOYS can be converted to real weapons is demonstrably absurd, as several gunsmiths and pros have empirically shown already.
They don't call em "F-Troop" for nothin'.
The store owner in the video said that it occasionally happened that a shipment would arrive without the red tip, and they would just paint it red themselves before putting them up for sale.
Anybody with a red-tipped airsoft who didn't want it red could just as easily paint it black.
As far as being convertable to fire real ammo -- a plastic lower receiver is not going to take the stress if they put a real upper on it (even assuming that you COULD attach a real upper, which I doubt)

That is because the idiots at the ATF are LYING through their teeth. It is well known that the ATF doesn’t even have written instructions so the average field agent can tell a machine gun from an ordinary semi-automatic or from a malfunctioning weapon.
My brother and I had some Nichols (sp) cap guns..When I was seven, one night at dinner, I stacked 13 of the little round caps in the shell, and fired it at my brother..I was expecting a big bang. What I got was the "bullet" hitting the bar in the front of the barrel, then going back up through the barrel, hitting the hammer, then travelling forward along the side of the gun. It barely missed my brother's head, but did make a hole in the cement block wall in our Wherry Housing abode..
I still remember some satisfaction, at my older brother's screaming, "She tried to kill me. She tried to kill me." I remember that better than the meal I am sure I missed after being sent to my room for being "stupid", and cramming 13 caps into my little derringer.
ATF agents should be in jail, not getting tax payer dollars to do their unconstitutional dirty work.

Even if you could, there's no hammer or striker in that lower, just an electric motor/pump which provides the air to propel the plastic pellets. After all their are no primers to strike and nothing to ignite in an AirSoft gun.
Even the more realistic models just have a fake reciprocating "bolt". And apparently some kind of hammer.
But of course that's a $550 toy. You can buy a real lower for about $200, with the parts kit to make it fully functional, and safe.

There should be a simple test for this.
The agent(s) claiming the airsoft guns are convertible to full auto firearms get 4 hours in a well equipped workshop. Lower receiver components may be replaced, but the receiver itself may not be modified. After 4 hours, they take the converted weapon to the range and fire a magazine through it in full auto.
Either the rifle gets fired or the agents get fired.
Yes and he only gets to wear standard eye and ear protection and ordinary shooting gloves. No flak jacket, no face shield no hiding behind plexiglass.
