Remember Danny Williams, the premier of a Canadian province who ditched Canada-care in favor of having heart surgery done in Miami? Lucky for him he didn't speak first with Katty Kay. She might have convinced him he'd be better off in Costa Rica . . .
On today's Meet the Press, BBCer Kay mentioned that in some sort of world rankings, the US has the 37th highest quality of care, "just above Cuba, just below Costa Rica."

I don’t usually wish bad things on people but I hope on her next vacation to a 3rd world tourist spot she gets really really sick and needs some care.
The study she is referring to is the life span of Costa Ricans, which doesn’t equate to “better medical care.”
Sheesh.
Yes, and how about the crowds willing to pay 10,000 or carry drugs in their backpacks and wade across the Rio Grande so they can get into Mexico and find a job and get free health care.
They are willing to sneak across the border to have their babies so their children will be citizens of Mexico at birth and they can automatically become citizens.
They stay in Mexico sending money home to their families so that they don’t starve while the Mexican government looks the other way.
How about those who travel to Canada to get life saving treatment because they are so low on the waiting list that it would come after they died.
How about citizens who sneak into China, N Korea, Iran and Russia and ask for political asylum because our government is trying to kill them for speaking out.
People leaving the U.S. in droves to taste freedom and are willing to risk their lives instead of being sent back to the U.S.
Didn’t know that you all had Cuban trained doctors down there in Texas.
Between your scenario and mine, in 5 months there will be NO ONE left in the USA but the Indians. Excuse me. no one but the Native Americans. They can start over and do it right this time.
Bet they have very rigid immigration laws and quotas.
Please don’t wish that. A number of years ago, a boyhood friend went to a “vacation paradise”, and something went terribly wrong. He was hospitalized there. After 2 weeks, another friend flew there WITH MEDICATIONS NOT AVAILABLE at ********.
Another week and the “guys” chipped in for a charted medical equipped plane to bring him home. Sadly, he died four days later.
At the funeral, his doctor, as a youngster one of “us”, wept as he told us that at home, the entire problem would have been 48 hours in the hospital and a week at home.
If this stupid bitch needed surgery, she wouldn’t have it done in Canada, or Costa Rica, or Cuba. Her ass would done here so fast you wouldn’t see her for dust.
sure our healthcare system is real bad..wait until “Bammy fixes it.....from 37th to 1st....faster than it will take for Pelousy to get the House to vote on it!!!!
I don’t wish she dies, I want her to get first hand experience with 3rd world health facilities and then live to tell about it. She might open some eyes if she does that.
It is not by accident that world leaders and rich folks come to Rochester, Minnesota for medical care! It certainly is not for the weather!
Well, with so many other countries offering so much more than we have, it is a wonder that there is anyone left now. As for me, I think I will take my chances staying here.
I mean just listen to Obama, Moore, Pelosi and Reid and they will tell you how bad America is.
We don’t have “free” health care, we are killing the planet and we have all of those rich people that are so selfish they want to keep the money they make off of the backs of the poor instead of sharing it.
We allow Corporations to pay their executives more than government employees and on top of that we allow them to operate without unions to keep them from making profits.
Those profits should not be allowed to stay with greedy stock holders but should be transferred to all of those poor people that deserve to make at least minimum wage even though they don’t work.
Let’s put it this way...you have a condition (pick the problem) that needs urgent medical attention. You’re going to select Cuba or Costa Rica over the U.S??? We know what the premier of a province of one the most developed countries in the world, Canada, did. He went to the U.S. I doubt Cuba, Costa Rica, or any other country in the world entered into his decision. The people who made up this report are out of their everlovin’ socialist minds.
My wife grew up in Britain and knows both systems very well. You don’t have to convince her. She’s much prefers the American system.
Did Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton go to Canada for their surgeries? It's hard to remember.
I think the Elites all go to Cuba don’t they? At least that is where they say has much better health care than the US. Oh yes the the lines here in the US forces many to go to Canada.
