What is he doing with a Texas flag?
Chile is a good country. It is probably the best run countries in Latin America and Christian. They privatized Soc Security and are very market oriented. 180 degrees from socialist hell holes like Venezuela and Argentina.
So very sad. The lib media is already saying that Chile’s earthquake is not as bad as Haiti’s! Total BS.
God help the people of Chile.
Oops! Sorry, McGruff! I didn’t look before I posted. GMTA. :)
I saw somewhere that an island literally disappeared is that true???
That is NOT a Texas flag—I believe it might be the Chilean flag.
In case you weren’t being snide, the Chilean flag looks much like the Texas flag except the the blue field runs top to bottom in the Texas flag and the star is more centered.
Do your mean "Bush's fault"?
Thanks for the link.
Of course I wasn’t being snide.
I just remember from my childhood the Lone Star flag. I didn’t realize the blue field goes from top to bottom. And now I know what the Chilean flag looks like.
Prayers to this nation and its people. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to go through something that strong.
My last deployment in the Navy included visits in Chile. Beautiful country.
The destruction isn’t as bad, but the earthquake was more powerful. That’s a difference between what happens in a basket case like Haiti and a civilized country like Chile.
To paraphrase Kanye West "Obama doesn't care about Hispanic people
Nothing about Pelluhue being washed away!
PELLEHUE, Chile (Dow Jones)The massive earthquake that rocked Chile early Saturday and the tsunamis that followed it have devastated the Andean nations coastal communities.
Several seaside resort towns were severely hit by the quake and ensuing waves. Such was the fate Pelluhue, and its roughly 1,000 residents.
The earth started shaking so violently that we couldnt stand, said Maria Julia Aguilar, who was vacationing with her husband in Pelluhue. They struggled to their feet and fled by car into the hills above the town. She said the air was filled with the tidal waves loud crushing of houses along the shoreline.
In one spot, the waves had harpooned 70-foot-high Cypress trees into beachfront homes, while washing other houses up onto the mountainside above the beachfront town. Plywood and housing materials littered the coast and floated offshore.
When Aguilar returned to the site shortly after dawn, she saw four bodies half-buried in the sand.
Amazing picture!
This earthquake had 500 times the power of the Haiti earthquake!
mr. mm read today, that the Chilean earthquake had more energy than the Haitian one, but the Haitian one was shallower and closer to more populated areas.
From the looks of the pictures I’ve seen of the earthquake rubble, it looks like the buildings fared much better. The ones in Haiti just disintegrated.
WSJ article says severely hit, but doesn’t say washed away. At least not anymore.
It's not as bad. Death toll is far, far lower, damage -- while widespread -- is probably not as bad. Long-term aftereffects definitely won't be as bad.
