Debra Medina, new star of America's right, is firing up the race for Texas governor
The Observer ^ | 2-28-10 | Paul Harris

Lytle is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of town, one of hundreds that dot the vast flat ranchlands of southern Texas. A smear of houses by the main highway between San Antonio and Laredo. Population: 2,383. The first streets only got paved here in the years after the second world war. A sewage system took a little longer, not being built until the 1960s. In short, Lytle, Texas, has never been big enough to have much impact on the politics of the Lone Star state. And few Texas politicians have ever paid much attention to it.

I think the Texas Tea Partiers must be drinking something other than tea. If this idiot gets elected the Lone Star State deserves what it gets.

I’m convinced that Medina has a great chance of winning if all the other candidates drop dead.

The question was NOT do you agree with questioning government. She was asked if the government was INVOLVED.

She answered as she answered.

Involved, keep repeating this word.

You do know what the libertarian position on illegal immigration is, don’t you?

Libertarians are against it.

Because they want open borders.

Debra Medina spoke at a meeting of Log Cabin Republicans of Dallas last August. Medina is the only one of the three GOP candidates to visit the gay Republican group.

WTF?

Even without the the Truther stuff that surrounds here, it's discouraging that anyone - left or right - thinks that this woman is in any way qualified to run a state as large as Texas - not geographically large, but economically large. Texas is the second most populous state in the Union, with an economy that rivals most countries. This woman has run so much as a bake-sale.

Given the willingness of so many to support Obama when he was so clearly unqualified, it disconcerting that people are willing to even entertain this woman's candidacy, even of for a second.

It’s funny when others try to tell us who are heroes are, and they always choose the oddest characters.

Well she has the same followers as Obama, the truthers and the anti-Americans, in other words the Paulbots.

What's your point? Our gov’t had info in advance on the underwear bomber and did not stop him. The cause of this had much more to do with bureaucratic incompetence than anything else, not some conspiracy.

Where were all of you conspiracy theorists every time a terror cell was exposed and taken down over the past 10 years?

On this thread is a sign purporting to say that LaRaza supports her.

And you believe a photoshopped sign by Patriot08? LOL.

Good grief! If thats all the crowd she can attract, she might as well go home.

To be honest that was her show but a group of various conservatives which included Tea Parties that held a get together on Feb. 20. She went to speak to then and I’m sure there were a few more there than the picture shows. But still it wasn’t a large turnout for her or the group, imo.

There are White supporters who say they will vote for Medina in the Republican Primary as a way to hurt Perry (I hear it in the faculty offices at a local commumity college), so polls may not show just how far her star has fallen.

Possible I guess as the Democratic Party doesn’t have a hotly contested race for gov. They may have some down ballot races in some areas but a crossover is definetly possible. That would hurt Perry more than anyone else.

I heard part of her interview with Mark Davis and she is the new blood TX needs....IMO

Mark Davis is a libertarian and I heard him state on radio he "loves Ron Paul". He says he is a pro life libertarian.

Fiscal conservatism is important but if I have to throw in gay marriage, abortion, truthers beliefs, anti war activism yada, yada, yada, then I am not going to vote for that person. Rick Perry is the best for TX this year.

I am not sure if Perry is BEST for Texas, but I know a Paulbot is NEVER good for anyplace.

What gets me is Glen Beck said he was harrassed constantly by the Medinaites to put her on his show. So he finally agreed, put her on and now they all hate Beck and blame him because she outed herself.

Involved, keep repeating this word.

In everything I have read and heard, including the Glen Beck interview, she said she did NOT believe the government was involved. She says that now.

It is unfortunate for her that she didn't leave it at that but instead continued by saying it was one of those issue where not all questions raised by others were answered.

I would be happy to evaluate the source you are using to see she said that but I haven't seen it or heard it.

She is not a truther. She is a citizen that is choosing to participate in Government the way our forefathers intended and she deserves to have her ideas be heard and to not be destroyed by paid Rick Perry bloggers on this site.

Please take 10 minutes and look up her background if you are so inclined. Do not repeat the blatant lies that are being posted on this site. Ask yourself, do you want to support any candidate for office that resorts to spreading false statements about their opponents. This is not Russia, this is America!
