It is the responsibility of the U.S. Government to establish a legal framework, stable environment, and national climate which encourages and supports business. If business does not prosper, it will not provide jobs to Ohio’s people. The greatest and most urgent action needed to rebuild Ohio’s job market is to stop the U.S. Government form suffocating and strangling employers. The United States Congress cannot create jobs. But the United States Government can and does destroy jobs by the millions.
Government spending cannot stimulate the economy, because the government has no money of its own. The government takes money out of the economy by borrowing or taxing, then simply returns that same money back in to the economy. Misguided Keynesian economists imagine that government spending can stimulate. But they forget that first the government must suck the money out of society.
Prosperity comes from hard work and achievement. Government “stimulus” is like taking water from the deep end of a swimming pool and pouring that same water back again into the shallow end, and wondering why the level of the swimming pool never changes.
Furthermore, money is lost through inefficiency, overhead, and waste. Government “stimulus” leaves us with a huge national debt, which will produce inflation. The overhang of national debt will directly damage our economy for years.
