We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change [Al Gore Responds: Wishes "Climate Crisis Were An Illusion"]
NYTimes ^ | February 27, 2010 | Al Gore

OP-ED CONTRIBUTOR We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change

By AL GORE February 27, 2010 It would be an enormous relief if the recent attacks on the science of global warming actually indicated that we do not face an unimaginable calamity requiring large-scale, preventive measures to protect human civilization as we know it.

Of course, we would still need to deal with the national security risks of our growing dependence on a global oil market dominated by dwindling reserves in the most unstable region of the world, and the economic risks of sending hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas in return for that oil. And we would still trail China in the race to develop smart grids, fast trains, solar power, wind, geothermal and other renewable sources of energy — the most important sources of new jobs in the 21st century.

But what a burden would be lifted! We would no longer have to worry that our grandchildren would one day look back on us as a criminal generation that had selfishly and blithely ignored clear warnings that their fate was in our hands. We could instead celebrate the naysayers who had doggedly persisted in proving that every major National Academy of Sciences report on climate change had simply made a huge mistake.

I, for one, genuinely wish that the climate crisis were an illusion.

You are mistaken!

He has a comprehensive understanding of the scientific consensus on global warming.

Similarly, even though climate deniers have speciously argued for several years that there has been no warming in the last decade, scientists confirmed last month that the last 10 years were the hottest decade since modern records have been kept.

Tell that to Phil Jones.

After living as a chemist through DDT, pesticide cancer scares, environmental crapola, ozone-hole thinning, and AGW alarmism/fraud, I think perhaps there is a corrollary to someone’s law:

You left out the Radon scare, the algar scare, acid rain, Erlich's population bomb, the China Syndrome, and so many, many more.

Al Gore ought to be in jail for fraud.

He perpetuated a lie in order to make millions, if not billions of dollars.

Same thing with the scientists who tampered with climate data in order to get government grants and increase their political power.

These crooks are worst than Bernie Maddoff.

Not only can’t we wish it away, after five times as much shoveling as most winters, with only a path down my driveway that is barely wide enough for a car remaining clear, I’ve found that you can’t even shovel away global warming.

The liberal blowfish Gore is puffing up one last time. His dreams of Soros-like wealth are melting away. He sees an orange jumpsuit in his future. My guess is he blows his brains out in hopes of becoming a martyr for the eco-fascist cultists.

The Goebbel’s media will report it as a heart attack from the incessant atacks on his global warming scam. We’ll see polar bears and penguins with tears in their eyes. Bed-wetting college kids will engage in fiery self-immolation to honor Prophet Gore.

Bring hot dogs and marshmallows.

Note the slight-of-hand in the very first sentence:
"It would be an enormous relief if the recent attacks on the science of global warming actually indicated that we do not face an unimaginable calamity..."
Very sly. The damage to credibility wasn't caused by "recent attacks". It was caused by errors, exagerations, and lies...which have been pointed out in the "attacks".

Later he says, "...the danger we are courting has not been changed by the discovery of at least two mistakes in the thousands of pages of careful scientific work...". Note: "at least". Yeah, Al, "at least two" can mean DOZENS. George Orwell called that "Newspeak". All the more appropriate for Man Bear Pig!

“...smart grids, fast trains, solar power, wind, geothermal and other renewable sources of energy — the most important sources of new jobs in the 21st century.”

Not a chance. On the other hand, I do see promising opportunities for tort lawyers and district attorneys and AG's pursuing junk scientists, their enablers and promoters ..... and you!

I'm really looking forward to next January, when GOP majorities in the House and Senate take their seats, and Al gets subpoenaed. What goes around comes around, Algore, and, more than anyone, you should know how politicians love to grandstand and fund-raise when they have a high profile evil deceiver and profiteer under the hot lights in the Senate and House committee rooms.

Can you say, “At long last have you no shame”?

My favorite line from this THREE PAGE screed:

“But the scientific enterprise will never be completely free of mistakes. What is important is that the overwhelming consensus on global warming remains unchanged.”

We can't wish it on us either. No matter how hard Gore tries.
