She wants a more chocolate city? She should move to New Orleans. She would absolutely love the 9th ward. Kinda reminds me of the young doctor and his wife who opened a clinic in New Orleans in order to serve the poorest of the poor. They were welcomed with open arms. Local thugs broke into their house, shot and killed his wife, then shot him three times while he was holding his baby.
She can move to the Rainer area ....

I believe you're right. When I first moved to Seattle, I was straight out of high school and still a left-wing libtard. I threw money at practically every homeless person I saw, and figured that every sketchy-looking individual skulking in the ghetto was likely a fount of exotic wisdom.

That has much less to do with “hypocrisy” and “hating” than the fact that most people posting here have a healthy amount of common sense. I am a firefighter who sometimes responds to situations where people without common sense have ventured into dangerous areas.
GOP Poet, if a nasty looking person of an ethnic group stereotypically known for committing violent crimes approaches you while you are visiting an area of town known for it's high crime rate... why don't you try giving him a high five and letting him know for the rest of us how badly you feel about his situation. I am sure you could help heal the racial divide in this “pukage" point in history.

I’m a white guy with a reasonably broad exposure to the black community. By and large, black people prefer to live in black neighborhoods rather than make guilty white liberals feel good about themselves.
Most of us start out very trusting until we are victimized.
Not surprised living just 30 mi. south of Seattle. Words don’t exist to describe the loonies living up there. Why doesn’t this lady give free room and board to minorities. Let them set up a tent city in her nice yard. Maybe then she can live with her self.

And you should. 25 or so miles east of it here, but I go there as infrequently as possible. Terrible traffic, little and usually expensive parking, poor roads, and this once fairly-clean city just gets ever dirtier over the years. And did I mention corruption?
But there are good things about Seattle. And there are even a few hardy and incredibly tolerant (in the RIGHT definition of that word!) FReepers who live and work there.
I’m white, lived with 2 black roommates in an apt in college (just worked out that way; one was in a Bible Study with me and we became friends). . .
They were dems and I was GOP, but they liked living with me and told me they’d rather live w/ me than with white liberals who’d be all sanctimonious about living with them, while they knew I didn’t care either way about them being “people of color” (or “non-color” LOL).
So I agree with what you’re saying. I don’t think many blacks would like this author. . .
That's an interesting perspective. I always feel embarrassed when I watch white liberals' seeming inability to interact with blacks like they're just normal people. They always act like the black person before them is a fragile treasure.
Oakland, CA would be a nice spot for her as well.
My first thought was the same as yours......They can shed their white guilt pretty fast by moving into any inner city. But if they want to they can help out the people that live there because they have no choice. Trade houses with them....
