I blame this on the Canadian womens hockey team drinking beer and smoking cigars.
Am I the only one who finds it offensive when people try to make "clever" jokes (which in reality are about as pathetic as they come) duing disasters when many are killed?

You're too late by hours.
I was lurking at ...er..uh...Demented Universe, and they were discussing the various "scientific theories" around global warming causing earthquakes. Entertaining.

Oh, Lord. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not.

Probably. Its called gallows humor, black humor, etc.
Generally it occurs when the only other thing you can say is “better them than me.” And we all know that is in bad taste.

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake killed two people in Argentina on Saturday just hours after a massive quake struck off Chile leaving hundreds feared dead and setting off a tsunami, a doctor said.

Where next?
I have been following the quake action for the last few weeks so I posted this a few days ago:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2443122/posts?q=1&;page=301#348
Anyways, I believe an area of complete interest for the next large quake will be the Cascadia Subduction Zone of the coast of Washington and Oregon.
On two of the last few posts in that thread I explain my reasoning.
