Given that the student wasn't identified, what's the tradesports line that she was black? It has the odor of a hoax.

On Friday, the school announced several measures it was taking in response to recommendations from its Black Student Union. They include the establishment of a task force on minority faculty recruitment, a new commission to addressing declining African-American enrollment and finding space for an African-American resource center. If you want to receive a whole lot of goodies, just get someone to hang a noose on campus. That will automatically make you eligible for millions in cash and prizes.

Yeah I got the impression that there was something being hidden in this story as well.

This business was set in motion by a fraternity hosting a “racist” black party, serving watermelon an so forth. Several days ago it came out the party was sponsored by a black rapper Jigaboo Jones as a publicity stunt for his new dvd.

"The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is my primary concern." Give me a break. It was a prank!
Leave it to the "official black community" to get as much mileage out of this crap as possible.

So when did a noose become the sign of hatred toward blacks???
Strange.
Nooses were a sign of frontier justice the old west; hanging of horse thieves and such.

Nooses have been planted by blacks in recent years, to claim that there is racist hatred. It’s supposed to evoke sympathy for the days of lynchings. Thank God the days of lynchings are gone. Many of these noose cases were discovered to have been hoaxes, with blacks planting them to show an allegedly hostile environment exists.
To: Lonesome in Massachussets
Correct.
The article would have identified the student as “White Student. . . “ if he was White, but no mention of race is VERY telling.

For once I am with the blacks on this one. The party is one thing — I think an in your face event against Political Correctness is great.
A noose is a threat — in some ways worse than burning crosses.

Something like half of noose plantings, racist remarks on walls, etc. are done by minorities seeking attention or trying to create a situation to capitalize on.

Blacks were strung up all the time during slavery days. It was frequently used to punish runway slaves as a warning to the others.
Up until the Civil Rights movement, black men accused of crimes (especially rape of white women) were frequently lynched by hanging.

Looks like even BLACKS are ridiculing the monopoly of the noose ONLY applying to blacks and ONLY symbolic to them. This is how ridiculous things have become.
