WASHINGTON, Jan. 25— After examining climate data extending back nearly 100 years, a team of Government scientists has concluded that there has been no significant change in average temperatures or rainfall in the United States over that entire period.
While the nation's weather in individual years or even for periods of years has been hotter or cooler and drier or wetter than in other periods, the new study shows that over the last century there has been no trend in one direction or another.
The study, made by scientists for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was published in the current issue of Geophysical Research Letters. It is based on temperature and precipitation readings taken at weather stations around the country from 1895 to 1987.

First, how many temperature monitoring stations are there worldwide? How accurate are they? How long have they been there?
Second, since the earth is 70% covered in water, how are they measuring the temperature in that 70% area?

This article was written in 1989 when there was still sanity and integrity in the climate science community. In the 1990’s Clinton as president and Gore as VP began the effort to politicize the government funding of climate science. This is when the famous Michael Mann "hockey stick" graph gained prominence and the extensive global warming fraud began to dominate funding and the climate science scholarship.
Great point! Yet the inconvenient truth is that there is ZERO evidence that CO2 at anywhere near such low levels as we have today has ever once caused global temps to increase. The only correlation between CO2 and temps in the Vostoc ice core data is a *reverse* one! That is, when global temps rise through some unrelated process such as Earth’s several forms of orbital deviation (glaciation cycles), CO2 is released from warmer ocean waters and then enters the atmosphere. However, and importantly, this additional CO2 in the atmosphere has not once led to any significant further warming. Yet Al Bore uses such data as the Vostoc ice cores to support his phony GoreBull Warming claims!
No, no, no! The fact that there is no warming PROVES that there is warming.

Dear Editor,
You have a copy of my work.
I have to disagree with the findings of Dr. Hanson. If he correlated his work to sunspot activity, he would find the typical USA average winter temperatures were below freezing from 1895 to 1933.
From 1934 to 1964 the same category saw the temperatures move to the 33 degree zone.
From 1964 to 1975 there was a flat sunspot cycle and that cycle dropped the temperatures to 1980.
It took the next cycles to generate the heat for the worst decade of hurricanes from 1996 to 2006. The average winter temperatures were the hottest since official records were kept.

Update, that article is from 1989, up to then. So any warming must be viewed from 1989 to now, correct?

The Jones Climate guy in England recently admitted that there has been no significant global warming for the last 15 years.
