Greek consumer group has called for a boycott of German goods as a festering row between the two countries over the euro grows. Greece's Consumer Institute demanded Germany admit 'we are no crooks' after a German magazine blasted the country as 'cheats'. The new trade war came as Angela Merkel admitted the euro is in 'a difficult situation' for the first time. She spoke as German magazine Focus ran a cover image of the armless Venus de Milo somehow raising her middle finger under the headline 'Cheats in the euro family' to suggest that Greece deliberately misled EU peers to swindle its way into the euro. The cover sparked outrage in Greece, prompting the demands for a boycott. A Greek newspaper has also hit back, running an image showing the statue of the goddess Victoria atop the Siegessaeule in Berlin holding a swastika.

'The falsification of a statue of Greek history, beauty and civilisation, from a time when there (in Germany) they were eating bananas on trees is impermissible and unforgivable,' a statement from the Consumer Institute (INKA) said.
That is too funny! If someone said something like that in the US, replace Germany and Greece, with 2 races the MSM would go crazy.
nice photo-shop
THAT'S A HOOT! They won't have to boycott anything because they won't be able to BUY ANYTHING!............
I didn’t know they grew bananas in Germany! I didn’t see any banana trees in the snow when I was there.................
Are they suggesting that bananas migrate?
Bananas grew in Germany 2000+ years ago? Well, so much for global warming. :-)
Safe? Wait until we are taxed to bailout California, New York, Michigan....
that’s awesome ....
Few things would please me more than a euro crackup.
I have to say it’s pretty parthetic to fall back on what happened 3000 years ago as a defense.
I think it’s a pretty good insult, actually.
wow, if you can drag yourself away from the Obama Show for awhile, this is some really popcorn-worthy stuff
If you think what happens abroad stays abroad you are sadly mistaken.
The was funny about eating bananas. I don’t they had bananas in northern climes during the apex of Greek civilization.
Global warming perhaps?
Maybe 3000 years ago, Germany was sub-tropical!
We should ask Algore.
“As someone safely in the US”
Are you serious? Do you actually believe that geographic location protects you against financial instability? Maybe if you live on Mars.
This is a global problem. Everyone is going to get whacked to a greater or lesser degree. Don’t gloat. Our time is coming.

"First, you eat the banana. Thus rendering him defenseless."
EU Schadenfreude.
And even if they had money, what would they buy from Germans? Schnitzels?
I meant I do not have to worry about getting in the middle of some fist-a-cuffs between Greeks and Germans.
