DC health-clubbing: Bam and GOP take swings
NY Post ^ | February 26, 2010 | Charles Hurt and Andy Soltis

President Obama said he came to listen to Republicans at his bipartisan health-care summit yesterday, but he ended up in a long-winded debate.

"Should people in Washington decide exactly how this works?" Rep. Paul Ryan, a Republican of Wisconsin, asked the president.

"Paul . . ." Obama began, but then switched gears and responded to Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell's earlier complaint that Democrats were dominating the summit by taking up twice as much time as Republicans.

"There was an imbalance on the opening statement -- because I'm the president," Obama replied. "I didn't count my time in dividing it evenly."

Pure political theater for his part - although I don’t think it worked to the advantage they wanted. He wanted to put them on a lower standing by doing that (but I’m sure you know that). Americans don’t WANT to hear the Pres. and Dem. Congress lying to them. And, we aren’t as stupid as they make us all out to be either...

Nope, I’d say among those that actually watched it, no-one was fooled. But then, how many Americans actually WATCHED it, and didn’t just hear the nightly news spin on the event? I mean most people are working during the daytime — maybe they should have held a special session on a Saturday or something so MORE of the public could REALLY watch what is going on there in DC?

If it is "passed" regardless of opposition, the next election cycle could have every conservative using a simple slogan:

"If elected, I WILL overturn the government takeover of healthcare!"

Obama’s use of first names was a trap for Republicans, which they did not fall into. If just one of them had started a reply with “Barrak”, that would be the one and only piece that the networks would show over and over again.

If you want to know who won the “debate”, just look at the amount of CBS’s coverage (hint: there’s almost none of it).

Because he is so metro and swishy it's his attempt to establish some dominance and alpha-maleness
Same as his little stunt of putting his paws on GWBush and others as he talks with them
Invading their space
All about one-upsmanship and dominance
If it was me I would tell him to keep his hands to himself

Paul Ryan showed himself to know more about Obama’s bill than Obama himself. He cleaned Obama’s clock and left him speechless.

Obama acted like a low class pos yesterday.

The ghetto-thug came out in him at that 'summit'. I'm surprised he didn't threaten McCane to wither shut up or he'd get a cap in his (blank). If Barry keeps this up he'll replace the Secret Service protection detail with the Gangster Disciples.

All insults intentional, and all disrespect on purpose. He's a complete disgrace to the office of POTUS! And if he doesn't respect the office, then neither will I. And that's that.

That is the height of arrogance. That bleeper actually regards himself as some sort of king.

I wish that one of the older pubbies like McCain or Alexander had called him “Barry” once or twice just to level things out, since Obozo wanted formality so bad.

I actually found it offensive the way he called McCain “John” during the 2008 debates. He was the younger and less accomplished guy and McCain called him “Senator” so I found the “John” business very presumptuous and irritating.

Morning chuckle.

McCain on F&F said that the one thing missing from the conference yesterday was ‘public opinion’.

Ironic. McCain didn’t seem concerned about ‘public opinion’ when he was pushing Comprehensive Immigration Reform (aka, Amnesty for Illegals) that had some 70-79% opposed to it.

==

What a difference a day makes in the life of a politician.

==

Were McCain NOT up for re-election this cycle, which side of the aisle would he be supporting?

I noted that ‘first name’ business too, especially with the doctor/senators.

I thought it rather rude. I thought of Ma’am Boxer and her chiding of a General.

Of course, using first names was a way of emphasizing the levels of the attendees and reminding them that they were on a lesser level than The President.

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011 NEEDS TO BE REPEALED)

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.
