Hoaxes are apparently very hard for scientists to understand.

At stake is public belief that greenhouse gas emissions are warming the planet, and political momentum to act as governments struggle to agree a climate treaty which could direct trillions of dollars into renewable energy, away from fossil fuels.

“Heat trapping gases POURING into the atmosphere”....right. At the ppm level.
Big deal.

This planet has been warming and cooling(constantly) for thousands of years..

Climate scientists must do more to work out how exceptionally cold winters or a dip in world temperatures fit their theories of global warming, if they are to persuade an increasingly sceptical public.

Making the data fit the theories ... real scientists at work.

H/T to HardOCP...the word is getting around when the Hard Core gaming sites post things like this...see it here:

Scientists Examine Causes For 10 year Lull in Warming

***************************

First it was the report on melting glaciers that weren’t melting. That was followed by the hacked e-mail scandal that rocked the supporters of the global warming theory. Now scientists say they need more money to figure our why there was a dip in global temperatures between 1999 – 2008. Wait. What?!?

I question whether any of the so called “climate scientists” are even scientists at all. They did not include any of the effects of the Sun in their climate models. How stupid is that? The Sun being the prime and just about only source of energy for the climate.

On top of that they all bought into the malarky that the small percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere was causing all this non-existent warming. People with some sense have been saying all along that CO2 is good, that plants thrive on it and it is not causing any problem.

We still have these idiots that are wanting to spend millions if not billions on “Carbon Sequestration”, and trying to get “Cap & Trade” legislation passed.

Its all hogwash being promoted by a bunch of snake oil salesmen..Al Gore being the head snake.

Off with their heads!

Theories? Hell, I thought they sold it as fact.

Gaseous Vulcans. That’s what a colleague of mine likes to call the increasingly baroque attempts to save a theory falsified by observation (be it string theory or AGW). It refers to the attempts to explain the precession of the orbit of Mercury within Newtonian mechanics by positing a quickly orbiting planet closer to the sun, then, when this planet could not be observed proposing it was gaseous and transparent. Of course, Newtonian mechanics turns out to be wrong, and general relativity correctly predicts the precession of planetary orbits.

We can expect to see a succession of ‘gaseous Vulcans’ being proposed by the AGW types over the next few years (I hope: this kind of thing can take decades to go away.)

One think I’ve noticed about this “global temperature” stuff is that it takes ONE reading at any geological point. No notice is taken of thermal conditions higher in the atmosphere, or if a body of water is involved, thermal conditions in the depths. You are bound to get superficial results that way. Even weather is three dimensional, not two dimensional.

Part of the explanation could be a failure to account for rapid warming in parts of the Arctic

Translated, it means this:

While the whole North hemisphere is shivering, and roofs are creaking under weight of snow, we proclaim that there is somewhere, far above the ground, in some inaccessible geography, a small area of air - about a bucket - that is MILLIONS OF DEGREES hot. When averaged with all the rest of the chilly planet, it proves that the global warming is real.

This is a fallacy, of course, because it assumes a physical process (that we have no reason to suspect) that occurs in a place that is by definition inaccessible. They might just as well mention the touch of His Noodly Appendage.

hacked emails revealing scientists sniping at sceptics, who leapt on these as evidence of data fixing.

Damnable liars, it was a lot more than e-mails, and it revealed a lot more than sniping.
