The head of the US Marines said on Thursday he opposed ending the ban on gays serving openly in the military, the first top officer to break openly with President Barack Obama over the issue.
General James Conway told the Senate Armed Services Committee that he disagreed with Obama's plan to repeal the ban.
"My best military advice to this committee, to the (defense) secretary, and to the president would be to keep the law such as it is."

Is Conway the last man standing in our military leadership today? Everyone else is towing the line of the homosexual lobby? Pathetic.

Individual Marines cannot choose their leaders or with whom they will work and live. It is beyond governmental authority to force these Americans into situations that compromise their morals. The Selective Training & Service Act of 1940 permits the granting of Conscientious Objector status to “One who by reason of religious training and belief is conscientiously opposed to participation in war.” Little known is: People v. Stewart, 7 Cal. 143, “Conscientious Scruple. A conscientious scruple against . . . doing military duty, or the like is an objection or repugnance growing out of the fact that the person believes the thing demanded of him is morally wrong, his conscience being the sole guide to his decision . . . ” (Black’s Law Dictionary). This “Conscientious Scruple” provision appears to give Marines of conscience a legal remedy for a morally compromising situation of serving under or with Marine homosexuals. Moreover, since there are evidently more persons of conscience in our society than homosexuals, the pool of potential recruits for the current all-volunteer Marine Corps will be reduced.
A question which now begs answering is: “How would replacing Marines of conscience with homosexual Marines enhance a Marine unit’s combat efficiency?” Rather than enhancing combat efficiency, the opposite would be the result. In large part, the degree of a Marine unit’s combat efficiency parallels its degree of unit cohesion. As the term implies, unit cohesion is a function of the emotional closeness of the unit’s members who are drawn together by both social and military common grounds. There are at least three areas by which homosexual Marines would be drawbacks to such cohesion:...”

If and when he is replaced or forced to retire, the lame stream media will do their dead level best to portray this warrior as a troglodyte Bush-holdover who needed to get out of the way of progress.

I think that it is a safe assumption that you have never served in the military. If you had, you would know that units are tightly knit and it is imperative that all members of the team be comfortable with each other. Inherent in this is the belief by the group that the rest are just like you and are--like 97+ percent of the male population--heterosexual, i.e., "normal."
There are other aspects (such as not being concerned that another soldier or sailor has a sexual interest in you) but that should be explanatory.

if you have persons of persuasion that are openly attracted to same gender, and are allowed in bathrooms openly,....will that be an issue,..or will the libs say....”get over it”...to your sons and daughters.
With that said,..what is good for the goose is good for the gander and that means openly heteros ought to be allowed to shower with other heteros with no complaints,..and that also means lesbos should be unerved if hetero men say “pass the soap”. Are we at the STARSHIP TROOPER shower moment?...probably not.

Just my opinion, but I think you may have mistaken FWF's meaning. I took his comment to mean: "Why do they think they have to make an open big deal about being gay? What's wrong with shutting up and just serving your country?"
But I could be wrong... it's happened before. :)
