This kind of thing is typical with armies.

I read that Napoleon's soldiers in Italy were routinely taunted by the Italian nationals. On one occasion, an Italian who thought himself safely out of rifle range, mooned the French and added some choice verbiage.

Unfortunately, he mooned the wrong guy. The French officer was a renowned marksman with more range on his weapon than the Italian knew. The Italian had a wound in a really embarrassing place.
