Reconciliation could last for weeks, maybe months. Each line in the bill could be fillibustered.

via Wasington Examiner (Byron York) - Feb 25

In a pre-summit talk, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor says Democrats are trying to create a sense of "false momentum" about their national health care bill -- a bill Cantor says is dead and losing more support every day. "We have to continue the fight to make sure [it is dead]," Cantor says, "but all signs indicate now they cannot pass this in the House."

Cantor released a memo yesterday analyzing support for the bill and concluding that House Democrats are far short of the 217 votes required to pass it. Nope, everything that isn’t budget can be objected to and thrown out.

Greg said he has 5 pages single spaced of objections and plans to pass them out. There is no limit, nor no way to limit objections. Since as ZERO said no one cares about Senate procedure, no one should care about the approx 200 objections to be filed.

They tried to ram the original bill “in a snap” first time ‘round. Wasn’t until they realized they didn’t have the votes did things slow down.

This time they only need 51 votes.
Sounds like today’s meeting is just for show, a charade designed to elicit the soundbites needed to justify ramming it through.
Methinks this meeting wouldn’t be happening, at least like this, if there weren’t 51 votes and a bill ready to go.
You haven’t actually SEEN his proposal, have you? AFAIK nobody has.

They learn.
I’d bet on full passage & signed in 1 week flat.

While it only requires a simple majority, I don’t think there is a majority [at least a simple one!] at this point. Once you have a majority, you can move pretty quickly.
