RICHMOND, B.C. Sven Kramer of the Netherlands as been sensationally disqualified in the mens 10,000-metre final for straddling a pylon in a corner.
The prohibitive favourite finished a 12 minutes 4.50 seconds to wipe out Korean Seung-Hoon Lees earlier Olympic record, but it was for naught.
A disgusted Kramer threw his glasses into the infield when told by his coach that hed been disqualified.

Hey, think of it this way: if you’re gonna’ have a bummer of a day, make it world-class.
It will be a fun flight home for those 2.
you’re hart slowed down..?
“Sven Kramer of the Netherlands as been sensationally disqualified in the mens 10,000-metre final for straddling a pylon in a corner.”
Bawney Fwank made a mess out of the banking system for doing the same thing with Freddie...or was he in Fannie? Oh well nearly the same thing...life just isn’t fair.
Watched this live, what a moment of failure.
Sounds like that could hurt.
I never saw anything like this! The skater pushed the coach away when he tried to console him.....can’t say I blame him.
I was just watching Bob Costas talk about this a few minutes ago.
He said something to the effect that the Dutch coach should seek out some kind of wintess protection program when he returns home.
How terrible for both the skater and the coach.
If I was that coach, I would be looking for a new vocation.
witness - not wintess
So the childish, immature So Koreans who hate Ohno (for being “rough” supposedly), now have something to brag about.
Haha.. I heard something a week or so ago about a Dutch electrical supplier giving out X-amount of discounts to its customers for each gold Kramer won. That coach is a marked man.
That coach will need to find a new job maybe in Pantagonia.
Can you explain why he was disqualified? The article doesn’t say why (that’s worthless) and I’m not sure I understand what you said.
Wrong lane.
The skater was in the correct lane, but the coach steered him to the wrong one and the skater jumped the pylon at the last minute.
He wasn’t disqualified for straddling the cone, he was disqualified because the coach mistakenly told him to change lanes. He was PI$$ED at the coach. I wonder if the coach placed a bet against his skater.
In the wrong lane at the beginning of the race? From the get go? Or did he finish in the wrong lane somehow?
Sounds like my honeymoon...HI OOOOOH
