Hurricane-Like Storm Aims for Pennsylvania to Maine Thursday, Friday

A powerful storm of historical proportions is aiming at much of the Northeast Thursday into Friday and will follow up to a foot and a half of snow through Wednesday over upstate New York and western New England.
This second storm will be nothing short of a monster. Even in light of the blizzards earlier this winter that targeted the southern mid-Atlantic, this may be the one that people remember the most this winter in parts of New England and the northern mid-Atlantic.
At its peak, the storm will deliver near hurricane-force wind gusts (74 mph) blinding snow falling at the rate of over an inch per hour. For some people in upstate New York and eastern and northern Pennsylvania, this may seem more like a "snow hurricane" rather than a blizzard.
Cities likely to be impacted by heavy snow for all or at least part of the storm include: New York City, Albany, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Scranton, Allentown, Reading, Williamsport and Burlington.

Gotta love these AGW Enviro whackos.... "Global warming is causing all this cold weather"...and saying it with a straight face.
I see Inohfe is trying to get a criminal probe on this garbage. algore better hope the Republicans don't get a majority this year.

Yeah! Buffalo isn’t on the list!! I think almost every large city east of us has had more snow in the last 4 weeks than Buffalo all winter! I do realize things can change and we could get pounded. Wind - fickle thing!

I dont understand why the graphic shows Philadelphia in the Blizzard area but the text does not list Philadelphia as one of the cities to be affected. From what I saw on the videos, Phily is a very tough call. Could be either a couple of inches or a couple of feet.
Some are comparing this to the 1914 Billy Sunday snowstorm. Not many people alive remember that one.

I was happy, too, to see that the worst part is supposed to miss Buffalo. A lot of places have had a worse winter than Buffalo, which is gratifying!

Snow drifts 18 feet high...now that is a storm...
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
The near Hurricane force winds probably did that. Will have to wait and see how this one winds up. Will pick up some power off the southeast coast where some of the the Gulf Stream heat is still flowing, but up along the northeast coast, still got winter time water temps.
To: NRPM
They now say we will get 6-12 inches of snow... darn! Shovels are ready.
To: RebelTXRose
Here is a snowfall total map for the Beast. FYI - This winter every day before the storm hits, they usually increase the projected totals. We will probably see some >24 inch areas by Thursday morning. Basically a cold Arctic system coming down the Midwest will turn and combine with the Low that will turn and ride up the Jet Stream and come up out of the Florida Gulf Stream. There are also a couple of southern storms next week that are going bring some crazy type snow to the deep south. Snow in Florida again in March ?
