Now, since you have the Swiss as a Nazi ally, answer the question dammit:

How come in every history book I have ever read, it does not list Switzerland as a Nazi axis power, and or an ally of the Nazis?

“The people who didn't know about the Holocaust until after the war was over, were the people who willfully ignored it. This story is repeated by European countries trying to assuage their own guilt, and willful ignorance.”

You have made an assertion, please back it up. Show me the newspaper articles from before 1944 that informed the people of the world of the existence of the holocaust.

I have talked to a couple of people that overran some of the extermination camps, and they were surprised at what they found. My memory can be faulty, and I don't remember the names of these WWII vets, but I am willing to accept evidence that knowledge of the holocaust was widespread before these camps were overrun. Please provide it.

" So while the Mountain West and Appalachia might hold out, the rest of the country would end up occupied and stripped."

I live in the Appalacia and am very familiar with the Laurel Highlands and Allegheny Mountains. If you're in the area, I'll show you around.... : )

The cost of conquering Switzerland in terms of military resources lost and military resources being tied up to maintain their hold had to factor in. Why do that when there are much easier countries to conquer and unarmed populaces to bow their knee to you.

No doubt, and with the famous Swiss neutrality they also knew that they had nothing to fear from harassment by Swiss forces if they were left while all the surrounding countries were taken. But still it remains that Switzerland as a neutral forum for finance was *extremely* useful to the Germans, at least until the remainder of Europe was fully secured under the German Reich.

It's a remarkably short-sighted vision on Switzerland's part, to think that the Reich, having secured all of Europe and northern Africa, was going to allow Switzerland to remain free of them forever. Their utility would be exhausted and taking them would be a simple matter of isolation and starvation. Even if they could grow some of their own food, life would be tough with the luftwaffe over head every day.

A wonderful book I’d recommend to all Freepers interested in Swiss SHTF tactics and strategies is Total Resistance by H. Von Dach.

Get it, study it, keep it in your emergency supplies. Someday you may be glad you did.

"Now, since you have the Swiss as a Nazi ally, answer the question dammit:"

I did. I'm sorry you apparently lack the intellect to understand it.

There are voluminous books written in the last 20 years that powerfully make the case about services the Swiss made available to Nazi war criminals, both during and after the war.

When you commit a war crime, or become an accessory to such a crime after the fact, you're no longer neutral, no matter how you wish it to be so.

Again, it's not my fault you library is so limited that you haven't read any books that make, decisively, such a case. If you want to believe the Swiss were "neutral" in WWII, I can't help you. I'm not sure anyone can.

In addition to the other book I mentioned, you can also add Hitler's Secret Bankers: The Myth of Swiss Neutrality During the Holocaust to your list.

Not to mention the Finns were then and still continue making some of-if not the best-small arms known to man.

So shortsighted that the Swiss survived the war intact without being invaded by the Germans.

You gotta speak 4 (yes, 4, not 3, as commonly assumed) languages to communicate with the Swissniks!

Norway had mountains and is a larger country than Switzerland by far. It didn’t save them.

Switzerland was left alone because they had a determined armed citizenry who would make any German occupation cost more than would be gained.

"While your statement is true, another reason the Nazis chose not to invade Switzerland is because of the Swiss alps. "

Yeah, subs to Gulf of Mexico, and tanks to Moscow and as far north as the Attic Circle, and across the Med into Africa. Yeah, the Alps. That stopped them.
