Austin Killer Becoming a Hero to the Radical Right (Southern Poverty Law Center wants to link IRS
Southern Poverty Law Center ^ | Feb 19,2010 | Mark Potok

Posted on 02/21/2010 4:57:23 PM PST by U.S. Army Retired

In the hours since a man enraged at the government slammed his small plane into an Austin, Tex., IRS building, white supremacists and their fellow travelers have elevated Joseph Andrew Stack into an icon of resistance to tyranny. “The Guy is a true HERO!!!” wrote “northroad” on Stormfront.org, the largest white supremacist Web forum in the world. “God bless him,” chimed in “Rudyard,” following a comment by “suepeace”: “This was quite heroic. There is a gradual awakening underway. I wonder how racially conscious he was.”

Shortly after Stack slammed his Piper PA-28 into the IRS building Thursday morning, killing himself and one IRS worker and injuring another 13 people, a manifesto the man apparently wrote just before the attack came to light. In it, Stack bitterly railed against a wide variety of targets — big business, corporate executives, unions, the Catholic Church, the recent bailouts of various industries, and more — but he kept coming back to the alleged evils of American government in general and, more specifically, the Internal Revenue Service and tax law.

That made him a hero in the eyes of many on the radical right — so-called tax protesters — who have long believed that federal taxes were illegal or simply voluntary. Although many tax protesters who call themselves “sovereign citizens” subscribe to a racist ideology, there was no indication that Stack entertained racist ideas.

Mark Potock, the writer of the article and key spokesman and director of publications and information for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in Montgomery, Alabama , admitted on the radio yesterday that while he knew nothing about the man and they held no files on him, he showed every sign of belonging to the radical right.

What gives this organization the right to keep files on law abiding US citizens? Is this Legal for the Southern Poverty Law Center to do this?

.
This doesn’t do much for their credibility. Didn’t they read his anarchist manifesto?

Of course they do.

They’re a liberal organization.

Watch for them to be helped by a bunch of people in our Congress and White House.

...SPLC has got a problem...they’re running out of Klansmen...all the old KKK from the Civil Rights era are dead or dying...consequently they’ve got to find new targets of opportunity.

I suppose anyone could keep a file on anyone, with any legally obtained information, and political organizations probably do keep tabs on “enemies.”

Since an anti-tax activist is anti-big government, it stands to reason that he’s a member of the radical right.

There’s some odd theories out there about taxes and artificial personas and the validity of the Sixteenth amendment and the Social Security Act but it’s not clear to me from Stack’s manifesto that he’d signed onto those in particular.

SPLC has never had credibility. They were formed as a Communist front group with Tax Exempt Status.

Have you ever seen this clown Potok? He was on BOR and some other show last week. A real fruit loop with a bad haircut. But hey, working for the so-called Southern Poverty Law Center beats having to go out and find a real job.

Marxist views. But capitalist instincts.

Morris Dees really liked contributions. And geared his policies to attract the highest amount.

I assume Potok is similarly inclined.

SPLC’s Mark Potok Says “Battle is Lost” For Whites

White people have “completely and utterly lost the battle” to keep our nation White.

The creep needs to take a bath and wash his hair.

We can tie him to the Huffington Post!

USA TODAY describes him this way...

'civil rights expert Mark Potok , Southern Poverty Law' Center

Southern Poverty Law Center wants to link IRS Attack to Tea Party, White Nationalist & Stormfront.

Focusing on the Stormfront angle here, how in the world is that site and its adherents associated with ``the right''? The White Nationalist movement traces its roots to National Socialism, which by its very definition is leftist.

Consequently, if the SPLC were to be accurate and honest, any Klansman, White Nationalist or Stormfront partisan would in fact be affiliated with the far left. One can only surmise that logic is simply not a strong point of J. Richard Cohen and Morris Dees.
