ORLANDO, Fla. -- An instructor teaching a concealed weapons safety class accidentally shot one of his participants in Orlando.
The class was being held at the Summit Church on Herndon Avenue, but the church was not sponsoring the class. The class was a NRA Concealed Weapons Safety Course.
Orlando police say Michael Phillips was teaching the class, when his gun accidentally went off, and shot Robert Frauman, Junior.
Frauman was shot in the foot. He was taken to the hospital, and is expected to recover.
What was live ammo doing there!
Forgot to clear the chamber prior to loading his snap caps?
It's not often foot wounds are deadly.

I think that in the interest of maintaining some decorum and just good manners, it should be a rule that every student that gets shot by an instructor at a CCW class should be granted an automatic pass.
Amen to that.
Looks like the instructor shot himself in the foot, so to speak.
Think the best ever is a (former) DEA called Lee Paige telling some students, “This is a Glock Fawty. ... I’m the only one in this room professional enough, that I know of, to carry this Glock Fawty.” BANG!

Mistakes were made.
This is another reason why having multiple instructors is good - they can check each other’s firearms for ammo.
NRA training does have a very strong NO LIVE AMMO IN THE CLASSROOM rule, and it’s pretty obvious why that is.
He forgot to follow the first rule of gun safety.
#1) Always, always, always, always, always, always assume a gun is loaded no matter how unloaded you think it is.
