The Senate's top Republican promised Sunday morning that he and his members will attend President Obama's health care summit on Thursday "ready to participate" but said the Democrats are being "arrogant" by refusing to scrap their legislation and start over.
"You know, they are saying, "Ignore the wishes of the American people. We know more about this than you do. And we're going to jam it down your throats no matter what," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Fox News Sunday.

I don’t think so...
The Democrats have created a charade soley for political reasons ..
The Republicans know its a charade,
the American people know its a charade.
Obama has take the full-bore horrible ObamaCare bill, tacked on a tort reform fig leaf.
The Republican show, say “This is a charade, the bill is still a cr*p sandwich of taxes, mandates and govt controls and we should start with a clean sheet of paper on this” and that’s it.
The American people will know that the GOP is listening and the Democrats are morons.
Then the Democrats go off and destroy their party for a decade by ramming it through via reconciliation.

The Delphi Technique How to Disrupt It
Ground rules for disrupting the consensus process (Delphi Technique) when facilitators want to steer a group in a specific direction.
1) Always Be Charming. Smile, be pleasant, be courteous, moderate your voice so as not to come across as belligerent or aggressive.
2) Stay Focused. If at all possible, write your question down to help you stay focused. Facilitators, when asked questions they don’t want to answer, often digress from the issue raised and try to work the conversation around to where they can make the individual asking the question look foolish, feel foolish, appear belligerent or aggressive. The goal is to put the one asking the question on the defensive. Do not fall for this tactic. Always be charming, thus deflecting any insinuation, innuendo, etc, that may be thrown at you in their attempt to put you on the defensive, but bring them back to the question you asked. If they rephrase your question into an accusatory statement (a favorite tactic) simply state, “that is not what I stated, what I asked was (repeat your question).” Stay focused on your question.
3) Be Persistent. If putting you on the defensive doesn’t work, facilitators often resort to long drawn out dissertations on some off-the-wall and usually unrelated, or vaguely related, subject that drags on for several minutes during which time the crowd or group usually loses focus on the question asked (which is the intent). Let them finish with their dissertation/expose, then nicely, with focus and persistence, state, “but you didn’t answer my question. My question was (repeat your question).”
Remember
always be charming,
stay focused, and
be persistent.
Never, under any circumstance, become angry. Anger directed at the facilitator will immediately make the facilitator “the victim.” This defeats the purpose which is to make you the victim. The goal of the facilitator is to make those they are facilitating like them, alienating anyone who might pose a threat to the realization of their agenda. [People with fixed belief systems, who know what they believe and stand on what they believe, are obvious threats.] If the participant becomes the victim, the facilitator loses face and favor with the crowd. This is why crowds are broken up into groups of seven or eight, why objections are written on cards, not voiced aloud where they are open to public discussion and public debate. It’s called crowd control. It is always good to have someone else, or two or three others who know the Delphi Technique dispersed through the crowd; who, when the facilitator digresses from the question, will stand up and say nicely, “but you didn’t answer that lady’s/gentleman’s question.” The facilitator, even if suspecting you are together, certainly will not want to alienate the crowd by making that accusation. Sometimes it only takes one occurrence of this type for the crowd to figure out what’s going on, sometimes it takes more than one.
If you have an organized group, meet before the meeting to strategize. Everyone should know their part. Meet after the meeting to analyze what went right, what went wrong and why, and what needs to happen the next time around. Never meet during the meeting. One of the favorite tactics of the facilitator, if the meeting is not going the way he/she wants, if he/she is meeting measurable resistance, is to call a recess. During the recess, the facilitator and his/her “spotters” (people who wander the room during the course of the meeting, watching the crowd) watch the crowd to see who congregates where, especially those who have offered measurable resistance. If the “resistors” congregate in one place, a “spotter” will usually gravitate to that group to “join in the conversation” and will report back to the facilitator. When the meeting resumes, the facilitator will steer clear of those who are “resistors.” Do not congregate. Hang loose and work the crowd. Move to where the facilitator or “spotters” are, listen to what they have to say, but do not gravitate to where another member of your team is.
This strategy also works in a face to face, one on one, meeting with anyone who has been trained in how to use the Delphi Technique.

“Have you not already heard Ried is going to push this unconstitutional, socialist health care with the reconciliation vote by attaching it as an amendment to the budget bill should the OP not surrender in the meeting?”
There is nothing for the GOP to ‘surrender’ as the DEMOCRATS ARE STILL A 59 TO 41 MAJORITY. This is the Democrats begging the GOP to bail them out of a very unpopular position.
Reid’s threat is the ultimate in stupidity as it is perfectly clear THAT IF THE DEMOCRATS DIDNT NEED THE GOP TO PASS THIS THING THEY WOULD HAVE DONE IT BY NOW.
“George W. Bush to give the American people amnesty for illegal aliens”
!?!? The bill failed and it failed because the majority of GOP senators voted against closure on it.
I get your point, but you make it sound like amnesty happened, when it failed.
Looking at that picture, I have always thought that Obama’s deep bow before the Saudi king was done intentionally to show the world, but particularly the American people, that America has become subservient to Islam.
No, they don't have to show up for this phony meeting, while the Democrats are threatening to pass the Bill with a Reconcilation Bill.
If you’re right - then we need to be prepared for a long war. Oen that won’t end im Afghanistan. And one that will be fought here as well.
We had our 6 month check ups (because of the meds we take) and a new sign was up in our doc's office, that IF Medicare was your only health ins, then you had to pay the difference UP FRONT before the doctor's visit. I can't blame the doctor, the re-imbursment barely covers his overhead cost. And they are talking about dropping it from 80% to 60%.
“Always Be Charming. Smile, be pleasant, be courteous, moderate your voice so as not to come across as belligerent or aggressive.”
EXCELLENT Advice! — all the points you raise.
I hope someone points all this out to the Republicans particpatin in this charade. The Dems will probably try to make the Republicans lose their cool. Hope they won’t fall for it.
The Question: Will McConnell use every tactic he has to fight Reconcillation once it begins? I believe he will step back and let it happen, believing the Republicans will gain more political hay in the fall. A true conservative would fight to the end this madness.
Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)
New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.

Obama says slight fix will extend Social Security

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009
Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.

I happen to believe the pubs are going there to turn the tables on the rats.
I will be hugely disappointed if that does not transpire.
That bill failed because the overwhelming majority of Americans fought to keep legislators from passing it. I personally made no less than 4 phone calls every week day to legislators demanding that they not support the amnesty bill. (I am aware that it was referred to as a Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill.)
An organization, Numbers U.S.A., kept a running account of which lawmakers should be called, based on their positions day by day.
As for Republicans, Bush joined Ted Kennedy in trying to pass the amnesty bill. Forty-nine % of Republican Senators supported the bill. Among them were Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), Mitch McConnel (R-Kentucky), and Arlen Spectre (R-PA). At least Republican at that time.
Trent Lott (R-Miss) was for the bill, as was John Kyle(R-Ariz). Of course, out front for amnesty was John McCain and his lapdog Lindsey Graham(R-SC).
Republicans, Democrats, whites, blacks and Hispanics who were here legally joined together in making phone calls protesting amnesty. So many Americans called that the Senate phone lines crashed. That is when the pro-amnesty politicians conceded defeat.
I know very well that amnesty failed. I also know that Bush and other Republicans, some in leadership positions, tried as hard as they could to legalize 21 million plus ilegal aliens. It failed because many of those Republicans who supported it initially were scared off by the rage of the American people.
When John McCain ran for president a guy named Juan Hernandez worked on his campaign. Hernandez is the Mexican who worked for Vicente Fox, former President of Mexico. Hernandez maintains dual citizenship and encourages all Mexicans in America to do the same so that they can vote here and in Mexico.
It was ironic when Hernandez, interviewed on Fox News, said that the Republicans were going to pay for the failure of the amnesty initiative. I cracked up when he said that. It meant that Mexicans were going to vote for Democrats all the time.
