Rasmussen: Daily Presidential Tracking Poll (-19)
Rasmussen ^ | February 21, 2010 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 02/21/2010 6:30:07 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 22% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. That is the lowest level of strong approval yet recorded for this President.

Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19. The Approval Index has been lower only on one day during Barack Obama’s thirteen months in office (see trends). The previous low came on December 22 as the Senate was preparing to approve its version of the proposed health care legislation. The current lows come as the President is once again focusing attention on the health care legislation.

He still has plenty of time to destroy the economy and America. The country is beyond being bankrupt.

>>The current state is important in what it indicates about the future. Obama likely has a small percentage of strong supporters left among the white middle class. In parties and in the work place, people increasingly can make disparaging remarks about Obama without triggering a tirade from a strong supporter. This will work to further erode his popularity going into the 2010 election season. <<

Exactly. This is what happened with Bush when the war in Iraq obviously went south for several years running. Liberals had plenty to crow about and conservatives had few good answers, so the liberal viewpoint tended to go unchallenged in the coffee shops and bars.

Now it’s reversed and it’s our time to turn up the volume. As you said, he still has supporters outside his base, but as long as we stick to the facts, they have no answer to what are valid criticisms. I would emphasize the importance though of sticking to the facts. The facts are sufficiently disparaging without having to tack on the name-calling. And we’ll be taken more seriously as well.

Two or three conservatives having a serious, no-name-calling, conversation in front of a few moderate/independent voters about where Obama is trying to take the country will swing votes, but more important right now, is they will tend to go unchallenged as the left gets driven into embarrassed silence. (As we were when the war went badly for time-—too long a time.)

He just needs to repackage his socialism with a different name, then explain it more clearly so we understand why freedom is bad and giving him absolute power is good for us. There is no problem with his agenda; the only problem is that the little people are too stupid to appreciate all that Obama and Pelosi will do for us.

Maybe the sudden drop in overall approval (9 pts since 2/18) is due to Obama’s appalling treatment of the Dalai Lama on 2/19 - barring the press, meeting in the Map Room instead of the Oval Office, posting only 1 WH photo (on Flickr!!), shooing him out a side door past piles of uncollected garbage. That wouldn’t sit well with the Left - or with any one for that matter - except the 22% hardcore Left who will support Obama no matter what he does.

Yes, an overwhelming number of Black folk today still support Obama, but that support will erode as more Black folk come to find that Obama will do more damage to them then all the White racists in the world combined.

If that were the case, then major-city blacks would have stopped voting for black mayors who keep driving out employers. That isn't the case.

Also keep in mind that the 22% “strong approves” are the base from whom he gets his activists and volunteers. With a shrinking base of approvers, he’s going to need to pay money to get somebody to do work to support his campaign.

Could be a coincidence. But, then again, it might not...

“It is hard to understand the polls, Rasmussen, the only one that I watch, how can Obambie go up and down from week to week.”

It's the result of statistical sampling errors. Rasmussen only polls 300 people nightly, I understand. If you watch the long-term trend, you will see him shrinking to a -15.

Blacks really want Obama to succeed, not necessarily because they agree with him, but for fear that if Obama fails, blacks will be shut out of the political process for another generation. I've overheard conversations in which people were praying that he get his head out of his anatomy and start to lead. Would this were so... if he had any real concepts of what America was, then we'd be less worse off. But he doesn't. He's Bill Clinton without the political astuteness.

Amazing that 10 out of the 11 major polls now have Obama below 50%.

Exactly, they will NEVER abandon him because he has matching skin color.

They can’t see past their racism, it blinds them.
