"With democrats ... it's just .. different"
Well if the Republicans win the White House in 2012 and have fewer than 60 seats in the Senate you’ll see the Democrats throwing road blocks on everything in sight. Then the GOP will no doubt suddenly have second thoughts about the filibuster as it currently exists.
Some Republican should give that exact speech word for word (except exchanging the words democrat/republican) on the senate floor.
Extinction of the Democratic Party is what I want to see....total implosion with beautiful fireworks afterwards.
In our country, there now seems to be one law for the Democrats and another for the Republicans—and the Republicans let them get away with it.
The Mass. legislature changed the law so a Republican governor couldn’t appoint a successor to a Senator who died or retired. Then they changed it back again when there was a Democrat governor. And they changed it ex-post-facto, which is illegal. And they kept their guy in the Senate even after a Republican was elected in his place, which was clearly illegal.
And the Republicans just sat on their hands and said nothing.
Reid's pro forma “blocks” were particularly "beneficial" to all.
Great...
Let's make it easier for everyone to find this:
Naked Emperor News: Hypocrite Harry Reids Filibuster Flip Flop
Absolute example of how the Democrats when in Power change their mind about the RULES...which have STOOD for 200 YEARS

I wish someone would strangle that turd.
I despise Reid.
I’m still in favor of doing away with the filibuster.
For one, it will mean that future Congresses can much, much more easily undo the damage of past Congresses.
Most importantly, though, I believe the filibuster negates processes that were clearly spelled sout in the Constitution by misusing the authority of each house of congress to set their own rules.
For all practical purposes, the Senate has surreptitiously amended the Constitution.
Thanks for the Ping, Ernest!
Similarly in Missouri, the Dems wanted to keep the dead Mel Carnahan on the ballot and let the votes count for the governor to appoint a replacement as if he died already in office.
Republicans would never try these audacious schemes, nor get away with them if the did.

We need a heavy discussion on doing away with the Filibuster before we do so...Harry told us in 2005 why it was such a terrible idea.
