On immigration: McCain stressed the importance of securing the border and establishing a legal temporary-worker program. Foreign workers could take jobs that Americans wouldn't want - such as agricultural jobs in Yuma that go begging - with the burden on employers to quit employing each person at the end of some specified time. Kyl faulted the administration for short-changing border enforcement.

“Temporary worker program makes sense. At least we will know who the illegal immigrants are and what jobs they are working in. Wight now we have 15 to 30 million illegals with no idea who they are or where they are. There is no way to locate them or round them up if need arises.”
You’ve been around long enough to realize USCIS CAN’t handle it! 40% of the illegal aliens here are visa overstays...GUEST WORKERS....and guess what, we don’t have a clue where or who they are! Many on green cards have been found armed, growing dope in YOUR national forests.
Temporary work permits should be issued at our embassies in foreign countries. Any alien caught in this country without one would be immediately deported.
Don’t forget he was a big mover in the “gang of fourteen”...that’s what I detest him for. I voted for Palin and against Obama and had to grit my teeth to do it.
You are reinforcing my argument about work permits. If work permits are available the visa-overstays will not find it necessary to do so. And thus we will know where they work and live. When I was a green card holder, I had to report my address every year to INS (as it was called then).
Work permits MUST be accompanied by severe penalties for working without permits.
As for green card holders growing pot, so are many native born Americans growing pot and running meth labs. Almost all people caught running Meth labs here in Oregon are natural born Americans. These are all criminal activities and should be dealt as such. Non-citizens should be subject to deportation FOR ANY CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.
That makes perfect sense.
It probably grades the McCain of 2010, when he's running for re-election.
Any other year, you could slide him over to the left.
Yeah ;-)
