On the heels of a federal crackdown, lawmakers in Nebraska are scrambling to pass legislation that will allow pregnant illegal immigrant women to continue receiving free, taxpayer-financed medical care.
The state has for decades offered the costly perk to pregnant illegal aliens, whose “anchor babies” are automatically United States citizens. However, the federal government recently notified the state that it was illegally determining eligibility for publicly-funded medical care known as Medicaid.
Nebraska has skirted federal guidelines by using the illegal immigrants’ yet-to-be-born children to qualify for the medical care otherwise not available to undocumented aliens. Nebraska women who are legal U.S. residents will continue receiving Medicaid, the state-federal insurance program for the poor, once the state follows the federal guidelines but illegal immigrants won’t.
As the cutoff date approaches, legislators in the Cornhusker State are frantically working to pass a law that will allow the state’s estimated 1,000 pregnant illegal immigrants to keep their public medical coverage. The deadline is in early March and a state senator from Lincoln, Kathy Campbell, has introduced a measure to create a new program—funded by both the state and the federal government—aimed at restoring the coverage for illegal immigrants.
Under the proposed law, Nebraska will create a special standalone program under an existing federal children’s insurance plan that will allow the illegal alien mothers to receive prenatal-care coverage similar to when the state violated federal Medicaid rules. Of course, U.S. taxpayers will fund the project.
At least one Nebraska senator, John Nelson, questioned the measure’s fiscal impact and wondered if the state provides care for those here illegally, how many more will come to Nebraska to take advantage of the program. Another senator (Charlie Jansen) pointed out that illegal immigrants will continue using state benefits until the problem is addressed by lawmakers.
Fourteen states—including California, New York and Texas—already have similar programs that provide illegal immigrants with free government-funded medical care when they are pregnant. Once their anchor babies are born, the family receives a plethora of public assistance including food stamps and monthly welfare checks.

First, it’s not what I think. It’s simply what is done. No hospital or doctor is going to turn anyone away because of their ability to pay. It’s against the law and morally wrong. Bottom line is, youre gonna pay for it whether you like it or not.
And just to let you know a bit about me, after 24 years serving my country, I was supposed to have free medicle the rest of my life? No, sorry. There were no Tri-Care providers where I moved, so yes, my wife and I pay for our own blue cross/blue shield. (Whats that? You say even though you yell at the top of your voice “I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS” you had no idea that doesnt really happen? But, but, you yell so.... loudly.... Go back to sleep.)
Why should my tax money pay for medical treatment for people that are here illegally? They are citizens of another country. Let their country take care of them.

Now, let me state here that if you went to a foriegn country, your insurance probably wont cover you either (unless you add a rider to your policy before you depart (expensive too, I might add)). If you become ill, you too, might be at the mercy of another country. Care to be wheeled out to the curb and have a taxi flagged down with instructions to get you to the nearest airport ASAP? No, thats not going to happen, nor is withholding medical care from illegal aliens here either. If the bill isnt paid, the hospital writes it off and you pay higher premiums because the cost of everything just went up to cover the loss.
Right or wrong, thats how it works.
This is insane. Illegal aliens should be deported, not given perks.
Mike Huckabee advocated FREE prenatal care for illegal aliens. We take care of pregant mothers who have no fear of being deported, thanks to Governor Mike Huckabee.

1. Trying to make a point of who is more conservative than the other is of no use here. I was merely pointing out that the medical care has almost certainly been given out in the past and I’m sure it will continue to do so in the future. Passing a new tax law really isn’t going to solve anything here as the costs are already picked up by you, the tax payer. Hospitals and clinics will certainly provide the care as they have in the past, new tax or not. I’m personally not in favor of it as it seems to legitimize the illegal nature of the person receiving the care.
2. As the first part of your name implies, (trailer park), I would assume that if you took the unfiltered camel out of your mouth and sat the Colt 45 down long enough to sober up a bit, you might be able to go back and reread my previous posts. (Of course, with that 3rd grade education you have (did you REALLY get a sheep skin with that?) you might need some help (well, only with words bigger than 4 letters)).
3. As far as the last part of your name (badass? lol, ok, if you say so), let me just say, I sincerely doubt it. Most of the so called “badasses” I’ve met in the past have a tendency to overwork their mouths, not their muscles.

Come on. Your PERSONAL command? You did two hitches, right? Given your attitude, I seriously doubt you were EVER in ANY type of command, let alone had ANYTHING to do with being in charge of anything. I have to tell you, I’ve known many Commanders, a few I still consider personal friends. None of them would ever think to post a message as you did.
