Is this thing ever going to be dead? Someone get some garlic, a large stake and some Holy water, just in case.

Great way to ensure that “ALL” RATs are voted out for the next 100 years.

Quit talking about it and do it. That is if you’ve got the votes, which I suspect you don’t because you’re bluffing.

They are pushing us to get a reaction to declare martial law. That is their only hope now and they know it. I think that is why we’ve seen the Dem resignations/retirements that we have.

If he does he’s ended the careers of himself and a whole bunch of other democrats with this un-Constitutional piece of pigcrap legislation.

There is too much at stake for the radical Dems.
This thing ASSURES Democrats of rule forever, because no Republican will ever be able to run on ending Insurance, or EVEN CUTTING BENEFITS, for the 30+ Million, illegals included, in this bill.
It’s the ROAD TO TOTALITARIANISM.

I read something the other day that the parliamentarian can object to provisions that don’t meet the normal criteria for “reconciliation” and the Republicans will be able to offer endless amendments. Hope that is true (but it may depend on who the parliamentarian is and whether he can be blackmailed).

Keep your laws off my body.

As has been pointed out by none other than Lawrence O'Donnell, Reconciliation will effectively kill the bill. Each and every provision will require a 60-vote cloture to end debate. Reconciliation will give Republicans the chance to kill any provision by hanging together, and the Democrats have to hope that none of them get the jitters and jump ship too. No guarantee these days with so many of them opting out of their own reelections.
In short for the Democrats: Reconciliation = Desperation. And they'll get virtually none of what they really want.

The Dems are going kamikazi on this bill. They must be pretty sure that once it is in place conservatives will never be able to undo it upon retaking congress.

My question is, if it’s not to take effect until 2013, what’s to stop the Republicans from campaigning on a “WE WILL PASS A LAW TO SCRAP THE HEALTH CARE BILL” platform?
I’ve heard no one talk about scrapping it if it passes. Is it not possible by statute, or is it not possible because we won’t have the votes to stop it by our current 2010 predictions?
