(CNSNews.com) -- The Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. has ended its 80-year tenure as a public foster care provider because of a same-sex marriage bill in the nation’s capital that allows children to be adopted by homosexual couples.
On Feb. 17, Catholic Charities transferred its foster care and public adoption programs in D.C. to the National Center for Children Families (NCCF), a private, non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate for 95 years.
The move by Catholic Charities and Archbishop Donald Wuerl came in the wake of the D.C. Council approving a same-sex marriage bill on Dec. 16 by an 11-to-2 vote. The bill, among other things, would require foster care groups under contract with the District to allow and facilitate adoption of foster-care children by homosexual couples.
This policy violates the moral teaching of the Catholic Church, which says that only a man and a woman can be united in marriage and that together with their children they form a family. (See Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2201-2203.)
Erik Salmi, a spokesman for Catholic Charities, the social-service arm of the archdiocese, told CNSNews.com:
“The foster care transition took place because we would be required by the city, because of the new law, to place children with same-sex married couples, which is something that as a Catholic organization we cant’ do, so that’s why we transferred the program.”
Although the bill does not require that faith-based organizations participate in marrying same-sex partners, it provides gay couples residing in D.C. with all the rights afforded to heterosexual married couples under the law, including the choice to adopt children.

my wife was adopted through Catholic charitites and now they were told in MA to give kids to homosexuals.
Now these homosexuals could have gone anywhere to get a kid seeing as they do unnatural things they can’t have a baby but no they went to a place knowing full well that the charity would not give them a baby so the court orders them and the charity closes down thus keeping kids with no families.
You know what the homosexuals who said they wanted a kid never got one it was just a court order to force a charity to accept their way of perverted agenda
it’s sickening that they now are forcing kids to not go to a family.
and they say it does not effect anyone with their lifestyle
lets face it the black community has no idea that they are voting for the homosexuals.
They get told to go out and vote for a Dem and they get this.
Ask them before they vote do you want homosexuals to marry and they will say no.
This is why people need to educate themselves before they vote on the issues instead of finding that D

The liberals say: what is wrong with Kansas. I say what is wrong with blacks who se leaders ally themselves with such organizations as Planned Parenthood, who objective since the 1920s has been to reduce the black population in the United States. And they have succeeded. The abortion rate in black communities is so high that the black population in the county is half what it would have been had not Planned Parenthood targeted their neighboods for their abortion clinics. Ditto hispanic neighborhoods. It is a blatantly racist organization but no one calls them on it, In part it is because liberal Republicans also support this organization. Ross Perot’s wife was head of the Dallas branch of this organization.

This happened in MA, and the Catholic Church had to stop doing adoptions, because they would not give children to “gay” couples.
This is a strategy related to the left's love of abortion. If you eliminate or reduce the option to put babies up for adoption, then the number of abortions will increase.
