There is an interesting quote at the end of Joseph Stack's suicide note: The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.. This quote is from a book by Henry Fairlie titled Bite the Hand That Feeds You: Essays and Provocations
The Amazon.com description of this book is:
A native British wit expresses an adopted American ebullience in this sparkling collection of political journalism and commentary. Fairlie (19241990) migrated from London to the U.S. in the 1960s, where his writings in the Washington Post, the New Republic and elsewhere both celebrated and pilloried the American scene. The unstuffy Brit applauds America's informality, its gadgetry, its abundance and vastness, and its personification in a cowboy-poet named Hooter he meets in a Mankato, Minn., bar, but he's appalled by its politics. An avowed Tory in Britain, he discovers conservatism's Reaganite version to be narrow-minded and selfish and mean-spirited; he duly eulogizes FDR, attacks George F. Will and denounces government bashing as the sneer of patronizing and vaulting privilege at the needs of ordinary people that can be served only by government. Whether stomping on the dangerous insects in the Washington media corps or defending his beloved Scotch whiskey against the Perrier water fad that prompted the abandonment of... a wholesome and convivial liquor for a suspect Gallic product, Fairlie's elegantly pugilistic prose still feels freshand surprisingly relevant to today's politics.
Other digging into Fairlie shows he started out as a Tory but became an FDR fan leftist with shades of Lyndon Larouche thrown in. Joseph Stack has a unique
BING BING BING! We have a winner!
A fool who resides in paradise is a wise fool indeed.
Thank you for the link.
Strange brew by a strange few.
ping for your show
This is, in a clear summary, the anthithesis of the American experiment. Pleople woo embrace this line of thinking must be unhinged; ignorance can't be the reason if they have managed to learn big words.
There are no needs that can be served only by government
Government is like fire. An awesome slave and a mindless fearsome master. It can't feel, it can't think, it can't plan; it can only react to external forces. The greatest danger with both is the failure to understand that its primal purpose is to maintain itself, and consume anything that gets in its way.
It is no accident that our Constitution is formulated entirely to control the beast. Fail to remember this at your own peril.
I can't accept that. Not to many commy bastards not in government own their own airplanes.
just saying.
Very well said
Rush just bumped FReepers on this.. :->
Okay...Fascist Bastard :-)
According to the MSM he was a Right Wing Nutcase.
American commies all believe in material wealth for themselves but want everyone else to give up theirs. They all have dreams of being on the politburo.
I say, “Show me the voter registration” for this guy. I haven’t seen it. I’m surmising that either means it does not fit the MSM template or this guy never voted.
I looked yesterday and couldn’t find any political contributions in his name (that were large enough to make OpenSecrets). His wife had zero political commentary or groups on her Facebook page.
Yes, that would be good to see.
I don’t know what OpenSecrets uses, but the thing to do is go straight to the FEC database and do an individual search. I do that fairly regularly for names in the news.
I got nothing for a Joseph Stack in TX.

From his writing he doesn’t seem highly educated. Slightly above average intelligence perhaps but not a wide reader. Possibly picked it up on the net?
Definitely leftist though. Finishes up with the communist creed and a faux “capitalist” one. See also http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2454982/posts
Shep Smith is a full-fledged obama loving liberal!
“Shep Smith is a full-fledged obama loving liberal!”
Right, but notice how he used to hide it, then only in the last few years he went overt.
In fact, a lot of his rhetoric could have been taken directly from a handwritten sign at a tea party rally.
Tea Parties do not QUOTE KARL MARX, you lousy liberal lyin s**tforbrains.
Andrew Stack: "The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed."
Tea Parties do not DENIGRATE GEORGE W. BUSH, you lousy liberal lyin s**tforbrains.
Andrew Stack: "The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government."Tea Parties do not IMPUGN THE CURRENT HEALTH CARE SYSTEM (PRESUMABLY TO EMBRACE OBAMACARE), you lousy liberal lyin s**tforbrains.
Andrew Stack: "Yet at the same time, the joke we call the American medical system, including the drug and insurance companies, are murdering tens of thousands of people a year and stealing from the corpses and victims they cripple, and this countrys leaders dont see this as important as bailing out a few of their vile, rich cronies."Tea Parties do not DISRESPECT THE CHRISTIAN OR CATHOLIC FAITH), you lousy liberal lyin s**tforbrains.
Andrew Stack: "In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful exemptions that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy. We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the best, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the big boys were doing (except that we werent steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God)."
But you already knew that. You are simply lying liars, telling lies about the lies you tell.
And you wonder why you are continuously shrinking in revenue and size.
May I live to see your demise.
Now I am sure that Rush reads FR.
The book was mentioned right here on FR moments after the manifesto appeared online.
