WASHINGTON — NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden said Tuesday that President Barack Obama has asked him to “find ways to reach out to dominantly Muslim countries” as the White House pushes the space agency to become a tool of international diplomacy.
“In addition to the nations that most of you usually hear about when you think about the International Space Station, we now have expanded our efforts to reach out to non-traditional partners,” said Bolden, speaking to a lecture hall of young engineering students.
Specifically, he talked about connecting with countries that do not have an established space program and helping them conduct science missions. He mentioned new opportunities with Indonesia, including an educational program that examines global climate change.
“We really like Indonesia because the State Department, the Department of Education [and] other agencies in the U.S. are reaching out to Indonesia as the largest Muslim nation in the world. We would love to establish partners there,” Bolden said.
As a presidential candidate, Obama espoused a space program that invited more participation from the international community and Deputy NASA Administrator Lori Garver said recently that the next time NASA lands on the moon it would be part of an international exploration effort.

Manned spaceflight, the one technical area that the world still looks up to ther USA as the leader has been killed in the new Obama budget.... but we're going to spend billions to help Muslim astronauts get into space!
Is there anyone, anywhere with an IQ higher than the freezing point of water who does not know that Obama plans to destroy the USA and promote the Islamic world above all else!

People can call Obama and Senator Bill Nelson of FL and thank them. NASA workers who voted for Nelson or Obama have only themselves to blame.

Outreach to Muslim nations, selling our best technology to Russia and China, and using the rest for “Climate Research”. What happened to the NASA of Apollo fame, or even the early Space Shuttle Program?

I can see some “outreach” to certain sections of Muslim society. However I think Obama’s definition of outreach is a little different than mine.
What are they thinking, and why???

There is nothing like squandering Americas resources. Years of efforts, innovation and inventions were made giving America great advantage and comfort. Americans bought and paid for the investment and now what has been built is being abandoned and given away.
All part of the “lets give it away sweepstakes” to dhiminsh and marginalize America!

President Obama and I believe that education and innovation are the currency of this century. That's why he announced a new era of engagement with Muslim communities to expand educational opportunities, support entrepreneurs, and promote advances in science and technology. Our goal is to identify excellent ideas and successful projects in Muslim communities and then invest in them, help to scale them up, and to connect innovators and entrepreneurs, so that they can support and enhance each other's work.
We are creating a Global Technology and Innovation Fund, which we will launch this spring, that will provide hundreds of millions of dollars in capital to small and medium-sized businesses throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Africa . . .
We have to continue to expand and strengthen outreach to students. And that is why we have increased funding for educational exchange programs for Muslim students. NASA, our space program, has partnered with the Arab Youth Venture Foundation in Dubai to give Arab and American engineering students the chance to work together on NASA missions. And we encourage higher-education partnerships like those between American universities in the U.S. and Qatar and the UAE, which benefit students and faculty on both sides . . .
The real issue is what does this have to do with NASA? They are not an arm of the State Deparment.
Nasa is a waste of money, They have been a haven for “politically correct” blowing of money for 35 years. They shoot anyone into space and glorify the diversity. It is a bend over vomit to watch these guys burn a billion bucks to go do the same damned thing they did 20 years ago and have my grand son pay for it. Shut the damned thing down!! They are not going to prove there is no GOD!!
