El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X) was assassinated 44 years ago, on Feb. 21, 1965, because of his attempt to internationalize the African American struggle for self-determination.
Malcolm would have been 84 years old on May 19, 2009. Africans in New York City have made a pilgrimage to Malcolm’s gravesite every year since Feb. 21, 1966. While it is unlikely that U.S. President Barack Obama will acknowledge Malcolm’s joining the ancestors, people from Cape Town to Nova Scotia and Brazil to Brixton definitely will.
Unlike other U.S. presidents, President Obama knows who Malcolm was and what he stands for. Like many males with African roots, President Obama was moved by Malcolm’s life story. A cursory reading of his autobiography, “Dreams from My Father,” will prove this point.
President Obama is truly an African American; parts of his roots are with the Luo people in East Africa. The Luo are an ethnic group in Kenya, Eastern Uganda and Northern Tanzania. The Luo are the third largest ethnic group (13 percent) in Kenya, after the Kikuyu (20 percent) and the Luhya (17 percent). The Luo and the Kikuyu inherited the bulk of political power in the first years following Kenya’s independence in 1963.
When Malcolm visited Africa in 1964, he visited Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. It was during that trip that he met with Kenyan President Jomo Kenyatta, Ugandan President Dr. Milton Obote, and President Julius K. Nyerere and Muhammad Babu of Tanzania. Babu, Malcolm and Leroi Jones (now Amiri Baraka) held a meeting during this period in New York City. Malcolm talked about meeting President Kenyatta. Malcolm, however, was also aware of Kenya’s Oginga Odinga.

On Sept. 21, 1981, the office of the Eastern Rugby Union (ERU) in Schenectady, New York was bombed. The bombing was related to the fact that the ERU was the chief sponsor of a three-game American tour by the South AFRICAN (under Apartheid) national rugby team, the Springboks. On Sept. 26, 1981, a group of anti-Apartheid protesters from New York, members of whom belonged to the Weather Underground (WU) (or WU splinter groups) showed up at John F. Kennedy Airport to protest the departure of the Springboks, back to South AFRICA. The group of protestors were: Timothy Blunk (“Blonk”), Donna Borup, Margot Pelletier, Mary ("Marcy") Patten, and Eve Rosahn. An article which appeared in Newsday gives the clearest description of the violent acid-throwing incident at the airport and named the protestors. October 20, 1981, members of the WU and the Black Liberation Army (BLA) were together involved with pulling off the Brinks Robbery. In this incident, robbers ambushed a Brink's armored car at a shopping plaza in Nanuet (Rockland County) NY. In the course of the robbery and the attempts to escape, the robbers killed one Brinks guard and two police officers. BLA members involved in the Brink's Robbery included Jeral Wayne Williams (a.k.a. Mutulu Shakur), Donald Weems (a.k.a. Kuwasi Balagoon), Samuel Smith, Nathaniel Burns (a.k.a. Sekou Mgobogi Abdullah ODINGA), Cecilio "Chui" Ferguson, and Samuel Brown (a.k.a. Solomon Bouines). In 1984, after living as a fugitive for two years, Susan Rosenberg was arrested with an accomplice while unloading 740 pounds of dynamite and weapons from a car into a New Jersey storage locker. Ironically, on August 28, 2006, while in Kenya, OBAMA gave a speech at the University of Nairobi in which he informed the citizens of the Kenyan nation that ethnic-based (Luo, Kikuyu, Kamba and Maasi ethnic tribes) politics must stop and their freedom is jeopardized by public corruption. This action, OBAMA supporting his cousin Raila Amollo ODINGA’s election to the Kenyan Presidency, while ODINGA is being supported by radical Islamic extremists, the AL SHABAAB, was, in fact, aiding and abetting our enemy, radical Muslim extremists, such as AL QAEDA. Thus, OBAMA committed a treasonous act. It is a treasonous act because although cooperation between AL QAEDA and the AL SHABAAB is relatively recent, AL QAEDA has been working with SOMALI radical Islamic extremists and radical Islamic extremist ethnic SOMALI Kenyans inside Kenya since the early 1990s. According to U.S. intelligence reports, bin Laden sent Islamic extremists to Somalia in 1991-1992 to help the SOMALI Islamic radical group al-Ittihad al-Islamiya (Islamic Unity, or AIAI) to organize an armed militia, establish schools and clinics, and prepare to seize power. One must remember that AL QAEDA is supported by a global Islamic network called the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) which in Arabic is called the al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun. Many of those who are members of the MB USA are Arabs in America, while some are Arab-Americans. The Black Muslim Brotherhood in the USA is a branch of the MB USA and includes a number of Black Liberationist ministers and some members of their congregations. Members of the MB USA and the Black Muslim Brotherhood (in the form of the Black Panther Party and the Black liberation Army and various other groups) can be radical Islamic Extremists in the sense that they desire more power, and this, in turn, requires the economic and political systems in America to be changed.
One must also remember that OBAMA’s family on both sides (OBAMA and ODINGA) is rooted in the sociopolitical tumult of the last 60 years leading up to Kenya’s break from great Britain and its attempts to be a powerful player on the African and worldwide stage. And. with a President of the USA and a Vice President of Kenya in the family OBAMAs and ODINGAs in Kenya, the USA, and points elsewhere would have to be heady with a skewed sense of empowerment.

NOTE: The late Black sociologist, E. Franklin Frazier, is turning over his grave everyday. When he published "The Black Bourgeoisie," he hoped that Blackfolk would take heed and struggle not to become sucked up into the capitalist vortex of individualism, greed and false patriotism. Following him shortly thereafter was his student, Dr Nathan Hare with a scathing book: "The Black Anglo Saxons". It further warned us of the dangers of a rising negro middleclass full of itself and pampered by those white capitalist rulers of the 60's and 70's. It is clear now, some 40 to 50 years later that many of us did not take a serious listen to either of the Brothers!
Now we are stuck with a Congressional Black Carcass hellbent on sucking up to the worst of Big Corporate America for some chumpchange in their individual pockets and nanoprestige while 95% of Black America worsens under depression conditions.
To make matters worse, we have a negro president who not only ignores the CBC, but ignores the worsening plight of Black America. And rationalizes this dismissal of our particular plight by harking back to that other "charismatic" prez- JFK. Obama believes- as John F Kennedy said back in 1963- "The rising tide (of economic recovery) lifts all boats (including Blackfolks' boat)." Prez Obama is using this concept as his centerpiece for quelling Black anger/dissent among his more concerned niggoisie elements-- including, ironically, Jesse Jackson.
For it was the young Jesse Jackson who responded to JFK by saying that Blackfolk's boat was full of holes at the bottom of the economic sea.
It is clear that we have no option but to continue to fight for Reparations, Liberation and the death of Capitalism- no matter how Black its face.

Great idea. It is interesting that someone from a small village in western Kenya could have the means to study abroad at all, let alone in what was then part of the communist Eastern Block. I am SURE the KGB probably “saw” alot of what is currently transpiring years and years ago.
Apparently, too, alot of the reason we (America) became a favored target of Al Qaeda is because we wanted to make the Russians retreat from Afghanistan and it required U.S. boots on the ground of Afghanistan. That was when Osama bin Laden was himself training in Afghanistan and he saw America’s arrival there as further defilement of an Islamic nation, a supreme lack of respect for Islam, its teachings, and its followers. The defilement of Afghanistan reminded bin Laden of the earlier defilement of Saudi Arabia by the U.S.
This was done in 2006-2007...the lawyers held meetings with the blacks in numerous communities to get this done. So don't tell me the media didn't know this was taking place. Most of all, the owner of the letters were told to hold the letters because once Barack Hussein Obama was elected they would eventually be able to use the letters to get their reparations.

When I was in Junior High (1960's) we were taught that it was the "free world", the "communist world" and the non-aligned countries, i.e. the "third world". Being third world has nothing to do with wealth or poverty. It's about political alignment.
It seems like about 3 years ago or so I heard something about a discussion of reparations for slavery, but it barely broke the media radar just like you said.
I had NO IDEA that individuals had already been awarded what amounted to promisary notes from the U.S. government!

Thank you. I didn’t get into Junior High until the 1970s and by then they were misrepresenting what “third world” meant. I was taught that “third world’ related to the development of the country and it was largely judged by the standard of living of the average person in a given country.
Hell, he might even be MALCOX-II, he certainly looks like him.

In August 2006, Mr. Obama visited Kenya and spoke in support of Mr. Odinga's candidacy at rallies in Nairobi. The Web site Atlas Shrugs has even posted a photograph of the two men side by side. More recently, Mr. Odinga says that Mr. Obama interrupted his campaigning in New Hampshire to have a telephone conversation with his African cousin about the constitutional crisis in Kenya.
What should Americans make of Mr. Obama's Kenyan connection? If he has been putting tribal or family considerations above America's national interest by supporting Mr. Odinga's anti-Western candidacy, it raises serious questions about his judgement.
At the time of his visit in 2006, President Kibaki's spokesman complained that Mr. Obama was behaving like a "stooge" of Mr. Odinga — which was at best undignified for a visiting American senator, and at worst unwarranted interference in the internal politics of another country.
