A spokesman for FreedomWorks' chief Dick Armey posts a clarification:
The New York Times reported recently that FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey has endorsed Sen. John McCain in the GOP primary in Arizona. This is not the case, though this story has been picked up and repeated by countless media personalities and reporters around the country.
This seems to be a good case study in how false information can make its way around the Internet and the airwaves before it can be corrected. But we wanted to post a quick statement for all of you who have asked us about this.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Why somebody might have gotten the wrong idea: "J.D. had a fairly short, undistinguished congressional career with virtually no initiative on his part. I just don't see any reason why we should be concerned about that race."

McLame is the one tooting his own horn
I would bet good money that Palin is miffed at his constant reminders that she supports him.
The SUPPORTER is supposed to be the one saying it... Low class RINO loser...
On top of that, think of the lack of character it displays for Armey not to endorse MeCain.
Does anyone have the date of the report in the NYTimes concerning this endorsement? This statement says it was “recent,” but I seem to recall it having been some time ago.
If so, how come it took them so long to deny it? RINO Rats leaving a sinking ship? This doesn’t pass the smell test.

Armey can’t see any reason to get involved. He laments Hayworth’s lack of action, but hasn’t anything to say about MeCain’s endless leftist activity.
Go figure.
Hayworth was a good guy, and that’s a lot more than we can say about MeCain.
What happened to Dick Armey? 20 years ago he was a strong Conservative. Then he [ostensibly] converted to Christianity, and seemed even more dedicated to Conservative principles...But in the latter Clinton years he just started to get weird, to go off on his own tangents...Since he’s left Congress, he’s been more like McCain than the Conservative he once was. He even [cynically] tried to join himself to the tea parties and town halls last year, while appearing to undermine that movement or at least capitalize on it economically...?
Dick has lost his way, gone astray — sorta like Newt. Anyone know the truth behind the story?
Wonder what he promised them?
Mexican mayors? Dare I ask.
Wait, was that dirty or thirty?
With what? A bus?
I dont think JD is perfect either
but McLAME has GOT TO GO!
A RINO is worse than a democrap, and he had 18 years already AND LOOK AT THE MESS WE HAVE!!! WHY SHOULD HE HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE?
LOL. YEs, that was classic
The media will have anybody and everybody endorsing its favorite RINO sell out.
Here's a hint, liberal idiot: If you are going to call somebody out for name-calling with a claim that it could not be a slip of the tongue rather than a deliberate epithet, it would be best that you not commit your own little slip of the tongue on the same name.
“On top of that, think of the lack of character it displays for Armey not to endorse MeCain.”
You can’t throw away your country for a personal friendship.
Isn’t that the truth.
You sure wouldn’t know that around here these days. A lot of folks are blinded to that fact right now.
